Your testimony is very similar to my brother’s… you both look alike too. He was in and out of juvie/jail his whole life. He got a GED while being incarcerated. Everything changed the moment he held his firstborn in the hospital. He stopped committing crimes, stopped hanging out with gang members, worked his tail off, and went to school. Fast forward 15 years later, my brother is now an engineering manager for a very reputable company and still very involved in his son’s life. They are like 2 peas in a pod. It’s not too late to chase your dreams. God bless you and your loved ones.

I'm glad your brother became focused on the positive. Yes, he is similar to many other man who turn their lives around. And achieved great things. This can happen, when children are involved. And history is filled with storys like this. It's called being; "selfless". However, the media does not always focus on these stories.

Tiffany, I love second chances for people and it seems he's better, but it doesn't feel genuine. I'm not seeing remorse for killing Eric Huang. He barely mentioned him. It's worse that Eric was just a good college kid and not a gang member. Way worse. But Justin sounds like it would have been justified if he *had* been a gang member. That's clearly off. He's very lucky to get out after only 15 years, given it was a gang related shooting. He was only 17, but I think he should have gotten a bare minimum of 25 years. I usually abhor you Americans harsh penalties, but even 25 seems generous in this case. And he's still all about himself.

@@BradleyCoopertest if God didn’t intercede and force him to humble himself and reach out to God he would have never changed from the inside out. We all walk different paths in our spiritual journey. A brother-in-law of mine was the same way. Spent a decade in prison for attempted murder and came out a man on fire for God. He proved to me and many others of God’s presence by his testimony and how he lived the second half of his life. He was the light that made me and many others seek out God. Do not be like the Pharisees who knew the Bible but had no love for one another. If his testimony helps to spread the gospel then he has done what was commanded of him. Many live their entire lives claiming they are Christians yet only spew hatred and intolerance.

@@Khaab00 I envy those who have belief. But science has proven almost everything in the Bible as false. We created God to keep the crowd in check by imposing fear. And also as a coping mechanism to deal with our fear of dying. It is even proven that NDE's are nothing more than the brain releasing DMT, which is a neurotransmitter that creates out of body experiences. Genesis tells us the world is 6000 years old. I bet a lot of Christians were in awe when they dug up the first dinosaurs. We are nothing but intelligent mammals, nothing more, nothing less. Certainly nothing divine. We will be none existent for all eternity after we die, in the state we were before we were born. Those are facts. Science has basically proven that. But I do respect people who have faith, they lead much easier lives as well. Because they have this delusion that they are going to heaven when they die, which makes living a lot less hard.

Thank you Justin for sharing. I worked as a Po for 30 years working with teens to adults. I got to see changes first hand. One young man I met though never supervised, became friends. His story is similar to yours. We met after his sentence was commuted. Transition is not easy even with a great support system. He started working as a probation assistant. When I met him he was eating lunch alone, many were upset he was there. I too have a strong faith and believe people can change. I started spending time with him and eventually would introduce him to my family. I call him my Hanai son. In Hawaiian it isa sign of honor/ informal adoption. He applied for clemency, I had the honor of writing a letter of support. In October of 2022 he received a pardon by Oregon Governor Kate Brown. I hope and pray you will get your pardon as well as be able to stay in country. Again, thank you for sharing. You give hope to others.

@@phamquangnhat5086 As terrible as it is to lose family in a situation like that, I stand by what I wrote. What I had said, in no way detracts from their pain. I know how it feels having your heart and soul torn by loss, through the actions of another, I won't go into details. Kids and young teens are not mature enough or experienced in life enough to know and understand full consequences of their actions and the big ripple effect. He wasn't born a Bad Kid. We are products of our environment and conditioning etc and in those turbulent years young ones can do some really dumb and yes horrendous things not comprehending the full weight of the selfish misguided actions at the time. There is the Hormone 'Light Bulb switch that turns on' and it is when that Matured thinking/processing begins. Some lads take longer to Mature than others. Kids are not bad, some ARE misguided and troubled and become troubled teens, who get into bad situations etc and some simply give up on themselves and dig themselves in deeper to the point of becoming bad adults. They have chosen to become bad adults, but they weren't born bad kids. I admit that there are those rarer cases whereby one is Born broken and science has proven that link in the brain, they are a totally different level and not fixable.

In some interview he even made light of the situation, avoid mentioning he was the one who shoot and only admitted being "involved " in the crime scene which is far from the truth. Don't feel disgusted by yourself. You made mistakes. We all do. You explained so well the misery you felt growing up. You had no guidance. Young teenage boys need good guidance. You had none. Theses 14 years weren't all waist. You learnt much and now you are an outstanding person working hard to better yourself and helping others. By your effort to better yourself you are a role model for other young men and boys, and you are an inspiration, showing how you can climb up from lowest to very high. You also have good parents who gave you love. They made mistakes by not managing to guide you as a teen but they gave you a good base. I wish you a good life full of meaning and inspiration. God bless you dear.

God is still in control. He can work miracles. My brother was in prison for a set period of time. We fasted and prayed and believed God. He didn't go back to court or anything...on the day that marked his 3rd year they came in and told him you are free to go. No reason, just go.....praise God. We are praying

How I admire you for being humble and praying that honest prayer to God; reaching out to him and asking for peace. That initial step got you in touch with the one who loves you the most. Your story is of course yours, but it is also the story of our living God who is ready to answer us when we call on him. I will be praying for you Justin🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Wow! Wow! What a beautiful and powerful statement of a Christian brother coming to know our Grand Creator. Gods love and forgiveness is way beyond what any human can offer or understand. I am so happy you found Him. I cried all through your interview, very emotional and touching. These should be played in all schools, churches, after school specials. But America and specially in Los Angeles, thanks to That Newsom our youth is wasting away in drugs, sex and alcohol. I blame that thing for the highest amount of homelessness and drug addicts. I am so happy God touched the heart of that judge. May you continue to save lives through your Christian testimony. I will share this with my clients as a case worker this is another way I may help them. Thank you and may Jehovah, God always have you in the corner of his eye. We love you brother.

We all do stupid things when we are young but it's about the strength and courage and determination to turn your life around when you have the time and chance to do so. Very inspiring story to put in prospective that life circumstances are not that bad and can get a lot worse if we don't smarten up.

This testimony is absolutely incredible. This man will do incredible things I’m his life❤❤ I’m in recovery and when I tell you it’s by devine intervention I didn’t end up in prison for the rest of my life I mean that with my whole heart. There’s so much I’ve never told a soul. I’ve been clean almost 7 years and when I hear stories like this it hits home. One wrong move when you’re young, dumb, high as gas prices, shit even if you’re old and you’re life is over. I could have easily killed myself or even worse hurt someone else but by the grace of god I didn’t. This story seriously warms my soul.
