definitely can't get those real low notes on a 4. Looks like he is tuned down a half step on his 5. You could tune down a half step to at least hit that low Eb

Hey Corban! I was going to suggest what Kevin already suggested above. Half step down should work out fine on a 4 string. You will just have to voice the chords differently. Hope that helps!

This is a great part and a cool video, but the audio and video are not from the same take. ☹ It would be cool to hear what he was actually playing live rather than a recording/overdub. Look at 1:27 to 1:30 for example. It would have been great to see how he was playing that shake, but he's clearly playing something completely different.

Most likely some kind of electronic sample pad. Usually has bass drops or electronic 909 or 808 drum machine effects in it.
