Here is my attempt at translating the kriti. For those who don't know, in Telugu generally long aa sound at the end of the word turns it into a question. Pallavi: nannu brOcuTaku inta tAmasamA sannutAnga SrI candraSEkharA O bearer of the moon (Candrashekhara), are you so lazy (tamasamu) in protecting (brochutaku) me (nannu) even after I worship your physical form (sannutanga) Annupallavi: anni tappulanu manninci brOvumani nE vinnapambu cEsina vinarAdA nApai dayalEdA kanna taNDri nIvE kAdA is my (ne) plea (vinnapambu) for you to forgive (maninchu) all (anni) my transgressions (tappulanu) and protect me (brovu) not heard (vinarada)? does your mercy (daya) not fall (rada) upon me (napai)? Are you alone (nive) not (kada) the father (tandri) that birthed me (kanna)? Cittaswara Sahitya: pAvanamaina nI sAnidhyamu jEra valasi kOritirA pAvaka nayana nI kaTAkshambulEni nAdiyokka jIvanamA vinumA umA mukha sumakAma nIrajavairi dhAri madanAri ninnEkOrina brOvavA karuNatO nanu girijAdava parAku sEyarAdikanu I have come seeking proximity of your hallowed presence. O bright eyed one! Without your pressence, is my life worth living? Can you not hear me, O one who desires the flower-like face of Uma? O one decorated by the moon! O enemy of cupid! I am seeking the protection of you alone, O consort of the daughter of the mountain! It is not correct for you to ignore me. caraNam: jagamulella brOcE nIku nenu bhAramA sadASivuni brOvumA nApAli daivamA suguNadhAmA umA samAgamapriyA maruva samayamA cAla kOpamA karuNa cUDumA nAtO palukumA to you (niku) who protects (broche) the whole (ella) universe (jagamu), am I (nenu) a burden (bharamu)? Protect (brovuma) this sadashiva (composer is Mysore Sadashiva Rao). Are you not my (na) lord (daivamu)? O repository (dhama) of good (su) qualities (guna), O one who is pleased (priya) by marriage (samagama) with uma! Is this the time (samayamu) to forget me (maruva)? Are you very (chala) angry (kopamu)? won't you show (chudu) your grace (karuna)? Won't you talk (paluku) with me (nato)? Madhyamakala: nI mahimalu teliyalEnurA brOvakunTE viDuvalEnurA sOmaSekharA cAlamElarA durusuga nannElarA I didn't know (teliyalenu) about your (ni) greatness (mahimalu), but if you don't protect me (brovakunte), I will not leave you alone (viduvalenu). O bearer of the moon (somashekhara), why are you spiteful (chalamela) to me? Why (ela) do you not quickly (durusuga) protect me (nannu)?

Reetigowla ragam......always trigger my mind on the well known 'repertoire' keerthanam- " Janani Ninnuvina Amba" thats part of / sign of a mega cutchery in olden days....of MS Amma! Its Subbaraya Shastri's kriti while he emerged out as an outstanding composer with an own identity Otherwise he would have known only as son and student of Syama Sastri ! Of late only I did listen MDR's rendition of this Thyagaraja Kriti- Paripaalaya Paripaalaya in reetigowla. I remember - 'dhvaithamu sukhamaa' is also a Thyagaraja kriti...in Reetigowla itself......MDR in his unique style classically exposed the beauty of the ragam's dimensions. Here Gayathri Venkataraghavan in her unique style classically exposed the beauty of the ragam's dimensions. First class rendition of the Mysore SadhasivaRao composition; Wonderful sweet eloquence especially while the Chittasvora and Charanam's Madyamakala sahityam are presented......I am singing ,,,,,"brovakunte viduvalenuraa.... Somashekharaa...jaalamelaraa durusuga nannelaraa"....... !!!!First class recital ....
