This is what I’ve been saying. While I do love me a good stand routine as it does offer another outlet for creativity, but like you said, going count book for count book is way more impressive, especially for teams like Dolls and Settes, who got counts spanning over 5 decades. Showing creativity through digging through said count books is just as exciting if not more than a stand routine in my opinion.

I agree. Alayah could not catch a break at all since Day 1; first it's people saying Shelbie should've gotten captain instead and secondly because of the reason you mentioned. I personally enjoyed this year's field show performances more than the stands (although they did have some solid stand moments, namely during the big games). The Roses are Red routine in particularly, is the epitome of what modern day J-Settes should look like from here on out in my opinion and is undeniably one of my favorite routines from the J-Settes of all time.

I'm a huge fan of laneia's season. It's top tier in my book. However, that being said, i do not like when people compare captains. Each girl brings their own take, and they should be judged separately. Lay did a great job. I found her count choices questionable at times in the stands but was never bored and always entertained. She'll be missed!

Yess. I'm going to miss '21 real real bad. As for 2025 captain, I'm so scared because in my heart, Gigi is like the obvious choice but Chloe is so unpredictable and it's really up in the air, especially with Laneia's babies being the powerhouses that they are.

@@geekjanetThis has been a mental battle of mines all season. Gigi is an excellent choice for captain pick but LeeLee being a 2 year can be a big game changer for our Settes also. I love the poise and execution Gigi has in her form and she deserves it forsure she’s the last of Cilahas babies 🥺👢 but man oh man LeeLee can’t keep dancing behind captains atp.. she is Thee standard and Thee thrill. I think with basketball season we will be able to have a better pov on who’s gonna take the cake ! I’ll be satisfied either way I really have no picks between each girl. 😭👢🔥

Lay's spunk and confidence is everything to me! I think she has done an amazing job as captain and the team backed her up. Bria's improvement is remarkable 🌸. The J-settes kept things fresh and creative each game this season and debuted some bomb counts imo! There are so many standout moments that I will be rewatching. I would love to see Amani or Lele up next. They are so consistent and just bring an energy I love but it's up to Chloe and I know WHOEVER gets it will do a good job 👢👢👢.

54:41 Herb finally came into her own! She’s a true battle doll. I think all season she was trying to figure out who she was as a captain. She comes from a team of dancers who have massive intensity and dance big. She needs to embrace her style and make the team her own if she gets a 2nd rep. She needs to be bold, lead with own her style and get the team to match her intensity. Just like Dani and Gabby-be bold and develop her own style. She should spend some time with her high school coach this summer coming up with new counts and building her confidence. But Herb has got to learn her music and spend some serious time in the Dolls count book. She’s throwing too many of the same counts on the same songs. I hope she gets another rep to fix all of these things. She has what it takes! Now she just needs to focus and deliver.

Agreed! I love her spunk and execution of the catch-ons and I really think she could elevate the style too. Like you said, she should revisit and remix more old counts and really study the Doll style more, then build her new style on that. With her training and talents she could build on the ideas that Stamper, Shirley, Gabby, and Arielle introduced.

One thing about Lay, she definitely didn’t repeat counts…she actually took risks with the counts and sometimes it didn’t quite go with the music, but that form and the power was still there!!!! The girls looked damn good! Great GREAT season. Ready for the basketball season and soul bowl!❤

Maybe it’s just me but I’m really tired of seeing the same counts every week from Dolls. It’s always the same material from 2019 and prior (especially 2017) every game, year after year. I know we got new counts this season I just wish they were used more frequently like how the pointing count and shoulder pop count are…which is every performance atp.

I see what you're saying, and I agree and disagree. I believe the Dolls provide a good balance of showing how they “take advantage of practice”. Yes they don’t have millions of new counts, but they have just enough new counts, stand cleanliness, and A1 field shows to substitute. I feel like the Settes have more than enough counts from the KG era alone and should focus on stronger fields and being consistent with finding the beat at times.

Junior 2 years are such a bad idea to me especially with really difficult styles like settes and dolls because you need a good 3-4 years of experience and practice to throw good counts and do it the classic way.

They had some tough squads and these counts were their choreography. If it ain’t giving what they was giving then don’t use it so much. No shade.
