I am the lead saw guy for one of the largest commercial concrete companies, and I am so ready to quit. I hate this job now. I have zero time at home, my relationships are being hurt, my kids need me , my wife , I have a small business that’s taking off , but regulations may change in September. Have been thinking of quitting , but not sure if that’s the best thing to do. Worried about paying our bills, but I do have another source of income. Last week I worked a 20 hour day and a 17 hour day…the job is killing me slowly. I feel miserable

Dude, I relate to this video so much. I'm a Chef at a hospital right now and I have a "good job" on paper. I have 401K, PTO, insurance, decent hourly wage and everything but I am totally not happy. I feel like my job owns me sometimes and I have no time to actually do the things I want to do. Luckily I have a decent amount of money saved up so I can actually quit my job and not have to worry for like 4 years. I'm 26 and I've come to the realization that I just want to live a simple and peaceful life with no stress.

I can really relate to this video. I had been a nurse for 22 years when I decided to quit. Being a nurse is a job where for 8-12 hours a day you give 100% of yourself to others. the schedule is never the same days a week, there are weekends, and holidays to work. It took away a lot of time from my young son. I am a single mom and quitting was hard. I got to the point that I didn't even know who I was anymore. So I have been starting my own business and I am still working on being successful at it but I will not go back in the direction my life was going. Thank you for this video because it is nice to know that someone else has felt the same way I have.

Just today when I left work some of my colleagues were happy that this weekend is their weekend off and that was my "Hell No!" moment. I couldn't believe that one gets so excited to be off from work just for 2 days, and it's funny because that excitement is temporary because when you come back to work, you look at your schedule to see when your off day is again. As someone who's depressed at work and values time, I really needed this video. Thank you so much for opening my eyes.

God bless you. Love your story. Like many others here, I also quit my corporate job about 2 months ago because I was disengaged, depressed and treated poorly. I took 6 weeks vacation to visit remote places that I couldn’t go with 2 weeks time off and to visit my aging mom who lives out of state. Those days were great where I felt connected to my loved ones and did what I wanted and felt right at the moment. Now I am back to reality. Being 53 y.o and unemployed can be difficult. Don’t know what is next. Part of me say “don’t worry, everything will be okay” since I am an empty nester with no debts. But in reality, I am fearful to run out of money. Oh man. I feel you with the night shift and mandatory overtime. I used to work at the post office at one of their sorting plants on the night shift. It's backbreaking work and it's exhausting and destroys your body and mental health. Nothing is more irritating than getting ready to clock out and get told you have to stay over for another 3-4 hours. I only stayed for a few months before I had enough. Management sucked, too.

Really sorry this happened to you! Working at a job where someone else totally controls your time and schedule is suffocating! Same thing recently happened to me. I was working part time night shift and juggling multiple part time jobs for about 6 years, almost 5 years at one company and we went from 5 nights a week to 6 nights a week. I had only 1 day off a week and no weeks vacation for almost 3 years because my job just gave a us hard time about calling off or we have to get coworkers to cover us for vacation!!! I gave covered for multiple people and the last straw was a coworker trying to make me cover them an extra day on their two week vacation and that one day would given me two days off in a week which I rarely get! I contacted my supervisor and I was so furious my voice was shaking and normally I am a very calm person but I am beyond fed up of people taking advantage of me so I gave my two weeks notice!

@@JoleneLin78 thank you for your reply. I have been really struggling over the last 10 months, but I’m glad the notification brought me back to my comment because it reminded me why I left my previous job and why I’m doing what I’m doing. No matter how difficult things have been over the last 10 months, it has still been 100x better than what I was going through. Just simple things such as working outdoors and being in the sun, getting proper sleep, waking up at 4:30am rather than sleeping at 6am… it is all worth it. So if you’re asking if it is worth it, the answer is definitely yes. I’ve taken a massive step back, but the further you pull the arrow back, the further it will fly forward.

This really hits me. I was recently laid off after 7 years with a company. Had no idea it was coming. Got a severance package that has dried up. I’ve applied to almost 200 jobs in the 4 months that I’ve been unemployed… nothing. After feeling like part of a family unit and enjoying the people I worked with, now I’m feeling like someone else’s garbage. Thrown away and forgotten about. Now I’m trying to figure out what my next move is. I don’t want to go back to a situation where I’m not in control, but I have no idea what to do next and there are so many options and “gurus” that I feel paralyzed…

The job systems nowadays reject applications based on X this and that, or are straight up fake. Things are what are holding you down, at the end of the day what will make you happy, struggling to pay this and that off, or the freedom to travel with a few key items. If you work till 80 years old, did you really live more then if you died at 40 but you got to see the world/country/nature everyday. Best wishes.

It’s always how I didn’t do this right, or how I did that wrong. But when I do it right, there’s no “thank you” or no “good job” or “thank you for taking the extra time to study up on that.” I feel completely stuck.. especially in this economy and job market. I’m 27, not married and no kids, still live at home with my parents and I’m barely making it and it’s gotten so bad there, that I’ve had to go on meds bc I just can’t handle it anymore.

Hope this comment finds you I watched this video after I quit my 9-5 (but in reality almost 10-11 hrs) job last week. I could totally relate to you & the place you are coming from when you got emotional. I totally felt alf those rollercoaster of emotions and fears & sleepless nights but I got so pushed to the edge in my job that I made this brave decision to quit without any backup. Even I thought to myself - what could be the worst that might happen Only difference? - you can move back to your parents, but I'm the breadwinner in my parents house (rented) so that was also out of option. Thanks to my younger sister who is still in her job, though it isn't much but we can survive somehow. But I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart ( I almost felt as if I was sitting there and sharing my story in your place) now I'm getting some direction to look at. And fears that I've already left behind when I quit. The false sense of security & also the financial obligations always keep us holding back & cuz of which I've tolerated all my past jobs no matter however toxic those were. But this is the most liberating time for me. Atleast I'm free to do what I want to do rather than sacrificing my time & my life. Also when I went to subscribe I realised I had already subscribed to you channel which I dint even remember when 😅 But your video found me at the right time❤❤❤ "You got this" - to every one who is in the same space ✊🏻🚀

I can definitely relate to this video , Im 24 years old , and i currently work private security and i started 3 years ago that summer after i turned 21. This job has honestly the worst job i have ever worked for and will ever work for. You can say its a 9-5 but usually your working 10+ hours a day because management cannot give you a set schedule ever after they tell you will have one and after talking to them multiples times about your schedule, they constantly call you on your days off to come in when they know you are not obligated too and never agreed to be on call . They take credit for all your hard work and the hours you put in and never give you the credit for it. There has been times where i had to find a babysitter as soon as i possibly to go save a contract so the company would not loose it could when its the managers duty to do that and come to find out its so he could stay home and get drunk. There has been so many times where i had to work 8-4 and then somebody would not show or call in and i would have to miss a lot of time with my family and holidays and work the 4-10. I had shitty jobs before but this one has a special place. They are very unprofessional from the top and bottom. Im at the point to where i'm starting to get more depressed than i was in high school and angry almost everyday. Probably average about 2-3 days off a month. Im at the point to where i'm seriously thinking about quitting on the spot even though thats not the type of person i am. But its so toxic that if i don't just quit i feel like i am eventually going to have a nervous breakdown. Definitely going to take your advice very seriously and get started on it ASAP. Thank you for making this video and sharing personal areas of your life with us. It has definitely motivated me and inspired me too get started ASAP . Nobodies should have to put up with that and basically ruin a lot of their life for $16.50 per hour.

I have been searching for this kind of video that I can relate to for matters of quitting a 9-5 but having a family and kids because most of the videos you get and people who are single and in their 20s with no families. you have really inspired me and now I feel like I know what to do and where to start. I have a KZbin channel with 256 subscribers but I have not been very consistence and I have a variety of skills that I can put to use. It reaches a time when you start wondering if this 9-5 will be your life till retirement and asking questions like what really is my purpose in this life. Thank you so much for this.

For 10yrs I worked 12hr swing shift with one day off at an industrial company. I never slept well, diet was trash, missed numerous family functions, and no time for myself. After a night shift of falling asleep while I worked, I quit in 2wks. Took a job as a janitor, less pay but was the best job decision I ever made. I do not recommend choosing a swing shift job, if you have no other choice of work by all means consider your overall health.

Quit my job after one month b/c the girl I was working with was crazy and was already trying to scream at me and humiliate me in front of customers. Told the boss everything she did, that I can't work with her anymore, that she's a great boss, but I quit and I have to prioritize my mental health. Interestingly enough, this happened today, and I already have an interview for a $20/hr job lined up for tomorrow.

This video inspired me to create a video about the great resignation. It took me about 6 months to create this on top of my full-time job, setting aside at least 4x of 1 hr workout per week, cooking healthy foods that take hours to prepare, rejecting so many night outs just to spend more time pursuing my passion while having so many people discourage me from creating meaningful videos online like this channel. As you can tell, personal development isn’t a joke because there are so many sacrifices to be made, which are often uncomfortable but knowing that there are also so many like-minded individuals who have passion for becoming a better version of themselves each day and who are willing to show support makes me more motivated to keep pursuing my passion for creativity and intense desire to provide as much value as I could. When I was a kid, all I wanted was to have a career that pays well so I can buy whatever I want but now that I’m grown up and went through tons of setbacks from losing tons of people in my life, getting lost in the world with full of life traps, being ridiculed for pursuing my dreams, having so many people tell me that I’m merely wasting my time creating a meaningful content online, and so on, I can say that long-lasting happiness can’t be bought or earned because it comes from within us

Jepp, same here. I have been in customer service for 10 years now since 18 . Now it is time to put my happiness as priority rather than stability and security. The thing is I grew up in very financially and mentally/physically unstable environment , and therefore security and stability something I wanted to experience . I have ADHD so growing up in toxic chaotic environment didnt help at all. Now I see that my perspective is changing and I crave inner fulfilment and happiness, and freedom instead. So I started with Video Game design because I will have freedom to work remote or on short projects all over the world . Plus its creative artistic and fun. And I keep writing as well for Medium see where it will lead me to.

I’m afraid to leave because of this economy and because I don’t have enough money saved up. I can’t wait for the day I make enough to leave. Alot of my coworkers are small minded and it makes me depressed when I have to "shrink myself to fit in". Call center jobs are draiiiining. Everyone is fake.
