Hello Prashant - I am right now at Kaza. One thing I learnt about diesel engines cold start in the morning is - covering the engine with a thick blanket or a quilt, then covering the engine with wind proof material (those blue or black construction sheets). And I have seen this work regularly here. The exhaust also has to be covered with any basic cloth. It will still be difficult if the temp falls below -25 and some sun will be needed in the morning but mostly the trouble will be far less. (just a few cranks after the vehicle heating)

Hello Prashantji, I appreciate your idea and I wish to some day meet you. When I visited Hanle long back I asked the four wheeled pick-up truck owners about their experience in morning start of their diesel vehicles. They said that they are able to start their diesel vehicles in the morning even in -20'C and below temperatures. *The trick is to lay the surface of garage with goat or sheep dung waste and cover the vehicle's bonnet and around with jute sacks overnight* This way the diesel engines are cold but not frozen and startup in the morning without much issues. This is the best way as steam is used to wash/clean vehicles in service stations as well. This is also a very good use for a old pressure cooker which cannot be used at home :)

Excellent Prashant ji !! Steam this is absolutely new for me, thanks for sharing. My Traveller faced starting issue, starting from Sethan Manali ... throughout Leh Ladakh Kargil till we reached Sonamarg. Since I am from Maharashtra, the Force guys said, there is no heater in the vehicle so this problem was faced. This was a good learning for winter as we have gas and cooker in our caravan which can be a help always!

Very informative video Prashant . Do petrol vehicles also face similar starting issues in such low temperatures ? About using 100 % antifreeze ...actually water is a good conductor of heat and the radiator works more effective with water in it . With 100%ethylene glycol im not sure if thatvis recommended and how the engine temperatures will hold .

Hi bro Awesome content Need advise if i should i buy or not! I drive tata harrier My need is - when i drive in snow conditions, i need to tie snow chains on my tyres! When i tie snow chains, the chains touch the shower metal part! Also due to this less space between tyre and shocker i cant even upgrade my tyre size! If I increase tyre then i cant tie the chains at all! Do recommend what else can be done???

Parshant Bhai pls yr..... I respect you. But pls be logical. Jab tak engine garam ho kr thermostat valve nahi khulta , tab Tak radiator ka koi role nahi hota. Then steaming radiator?? Aur vaise bhi thandi chéez - 10 pr steam maro to woh condense ho kr paani bn kar hai, aur fir pani baraf... All you need to start is a fit engine, sump with non frozen oil, hot diesel.... So best is to heat diesel path with steam and heat oil sump. Radiator koi role nahi

A person like Mr prashant must definitely be knowing about the thermostat . Heating the radiator does help because if it is in a frozen state then what will happen when then engine starts. There will be no circulation of coolant for some time which may lead to a damaged head. I think maybe he is too mature a person to indulge in an argument

@@nirankarjitsinghrandhawa9256 he knows the fact .... When you start engine cold, radiator does not fall in circulation path of coolant.. When operating temperature is reached, themrosatt valve opens and coolant flows via radiator. Please gather some knowledge about how engines work.....
