Even after all the complaining, and the roots, and the slick rocks, and the blood sweat and tears, I'll bet you will do it again. Off road racing is a lot of fun.

I had a lot more fun on my 3rd test. I have that on my channel as well. But yes I’ll definitely be doing more of these in the future.

I'm a moto guy who is converting... a couple hundred hours of practice makes it better. I don't mind the roots so much and the trees are fading out of the track. It's just all throttle and brakes now. 😂😂😂

@@woodysrockspyro6436 Well a lot of times if were having an event that's at a track. They use both. Im not much of a moto guy but its fun to ride the track and then take off in the woods. Its a good mixture of different skills. I will be hitting washougal this sunday.

Yea I just softened up my suspension a little but even with the proper bike I would have still been struggling a little. Never ridden woods like that before. Have plenty of woods riding videos on my channel but this was completely different and I liked the challenge

Yeah i will make it easier, but best way (lot more expensive way) is to get a hard enduro bike like some EXC TPI or gasgas, husky, beta, sherco…

A soft suspension and a 2 stroke is the key to riding like this. I have a yz250x woth suspension set at 185lbs even though im about 10lbs heavier. I float through trails like this.

Looks like a fun course! I'm using my rmz250 for trail racing here in Texas. Wish we did the staggered start thing and "test" phases, we do a dead bike start, each class starts together, then the whole race is 70 minutes + a lap if you cross just before the time runs out. Frustrating if you don't get a good start and get stuck behind slower riders on single track. Also wind up catching other classes at times, since the race is longish and depending on the location is between 2 to 5 laps for most folks. I added a rekluse so it won't die when I drop it, and less likely to flameout. Also resprung/revalved to be more plush and replaced engine mounts with softer ones since the rmz is so stiff / made for sx. Rekluse is a huge energy saver (yeah I know I should stop falling and hitting trees).

I’m primarily a MX rider so I would have to make due with that setup when trying out these events. This was just a spur of the moment race for me and I will be doing more of them in the future for sure.

If you’re running mx tires as apposed to a soft compound enduro tire can make a big difference. Gearing as well on the bike.

In my opinion. Enduros and Hare Scrambles are a much better test of your off road riding abilities compared to today's MX tracks. MX tracks mainly test how big your cahones are because of all the ridiculous jumps. Just my opinion as a old timer.

Fair point. I will have to agree on that

Enduro is awesome, so much fun. Being on an MX bike isn't helping you though. And, personally, I prefer a smaller 2 stroke. Lighter and doesn't wear you out as much trying to control it.

@Moto Mills makes things a lot easier in the woods. You're on a motocross bike so the transmission ratios aren't ideal for woods racing. You find yourself constantly slipping clutch and you'll develop serious arm pump lol. Another tip is to pace yourself as well.

There's a reason why more people who race enduro ride 2 strokes. A 4 stroke is not the best engine for slow single track riding.
@Moto_Mills Жыл бұрын
Yea I noticed that. Would be ideal to have a flywheel weight. I went to this event cause my MX race got cancelled due to track conditions. Decided to try something new out spur of the moment.
@joshpodolsky7740 Жыл бұрын
This kind of woods racing 4 stroke is not an issue. It's the kind of stuff that you are at a crawl speed where 2 strokes are king.
