The Greek Saganaki Shrimp Recipe is a perfect combination of intense tomato flavors, creamy Feta cheese and the fresh and juicy taste of shrimp.
The name "Saganaki" comes from the Greek word "σαγανάκι", which refers to a deep round pan with two handles. This pan is used in Greek cuisine to cook various traditional dishes.
The good news is that this traditional Greek recipe so appreciated by gourmets is very easy to make at home. Although the Greeks serve it as an aperitif, it can be enjoyed equally well for lunch, dinner, as well as for special occasions or festive parties.

📌 Ingredients
350 g prawns (fresh or pre-boiled)
500 g cherry tomatoes (or plum tomatoes)
1 large onion (or 2 small)
1 head garlic (6-8 cloves)
100 ml olive oil
50 ml white wine (or ouzo)
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon chilli flakes (or hot pepper - optional)
salt and pepper
150 g of Feta cheese
parsley (for serving)
lemon slices (for serving)

🔪 Preparation
In a small pan put 2 tablespoons of olive oil, then the cherry tomatoes. Turn them a little in the pan to coat in a film of oil, then sprinkle with coarse salt. Place in the oven at 220 degrees for 10-15 minutes, until the tomatoes are cooked, crackle and smell beautifully of ripe tomatoes.
Put 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a pan. Add shrimp, salt and pepper. Then the white wine. Cook the shrimp for only 20-30 seconds on each side, no more!
In a deep frying pan that will go in the oven, put 3 tablespoons of oil and sauté the finely chopped onion and garlic until the onion becomes translucent and softens a little.
Mash the ripe tomatoes with a potato masher and pour them into the pan over the sautéed onions. Also drain the wine sauce from the shrimp pan here. Add the oregano, ground pepper and chilli flakes and let the sauce cook for another 1-2 minutes.
Set the pan aside, place the prawns on top of the tomato sauce, then the crumbled Feta cheese. Place the pan in the oven at 200 degrees for 5-10 minutes, just until the Feta cheese melts.
Serve Saganaki prawns immediately, sprinkled with fresh parsley and lemon wedges.
