I love seeing Fr MM paying attention so lovingly to all his guests, it's a very good example of being present to me. Also I very much enjoyed this priest's explanation why he journals - my mind also wanders and I'd like to try this practice ❤️

Fathers: You two are top flight psychologists. Journaling is great for the brain and prayer. I have been journaling for a long time and it has drawn me closer to him with each passage. The science show that it changes the brain for good. As you say, "making it real". You continually are throwing touch downs. Keep up the good work.

Wow. I haven’t thought of prayer like that, I guess we forget how David’s prayers were written and sung unto The LORD. I’ve been struggling, with idleness or having a “quite place” to pray and be with GOD, considering this will help me. Pray for me brothers and sisters, fathers and mothers, as I am struggling to know my vocation (religious or husband), am in Univsty, and want to seek GOD in the midst of my idleness. I will seek The LORD. But pray for me and for each other, GOD bless you

wow i was actually just wondering about this yesterday because i didn't think I was prayer journaling "the right way"! i also journal to Jesus with entries beginning with "dear Jesus...", it helps me to process my prayer more clearly but also allowing Jesus to lead my pen and write down the things He tells me :) loved this video!

I also in the last day have struggled to feel like maybe my journaling wasn’t “right.” This helps me feel much stronger in my love of this way of prayer, because as they said, it really does help keep focus. I also love that I can see my spiritual growth over time.

I've consecrated my journal to St. Joseph, under a title I concatenated: "Most Faithful Head of the Holy Family," and I've been journalling with him for a while. I think, perhaps four months now. I literally just pick a topic, and explore my thoughts and feelings on the matter, knowing that he'll hear everything, and help me. I like to pick something from the Homily of the previous Sunday Mass, and a book regarding a Saint, and just express my thoughts on the matter, but I can just pick an episode of a TV Show, like Adventure Time. I've... gone into dark places inside myself. Places I didn't know were there, but, looking back on my life, were clearly always there. I thought I needed an exorcism at one point. I thought I wasn't invalidly baptised at one point, but no. There's no spirit here. No demon. Just me and my brokenness. Thanks to this journalling practise though, it's really shed much-needed light on those parts. I'm the kind of person that would self-diagnose himself with Maladaptive Daydreaming, so yeah, I've got a lot to say regarding my inner-fantasy world. I'm showing parts of myself that I've never fully shown anyone, and I believe it's begun a much-needed healing process for myself. I think St. Joseph is seeing my venting and doing things for me that I can't see. Even if my journalling has a bad conclusion, I think I'm ultimately in good hands. So yeah, I'd definitely promote the practise. Outside of blasphemy, I believe you shouldn't fear saying anything. Even if you want to blaspheme, you can just say you want to do so, and say you're angry about a matter. In any case, you will be heard, helped, and healed. There's no need to fear being honest.

Great video, Friars! I find it difficult to be completely honest when I journal as I tend to make my writings more flowery than it is (as though it's a GCSE exam). Nowadays, I just journal whenever I feel inspired by something/someone/an event/a dream. 3 years of journaling and less than 20 pages of writings. Like the other day while praying the 2nd joyful mystery of the rosary, in my mind I saw a field of maple trees on fire followed by an image of St. Teresa of Avila. It impacted me and that's the sort of thing I journal. God bless. +

I kept a journal like this during Lent. It was more a conversation thing, like a script. I didn't feel too comfortable at writing the answers though- were they really from Jesus/the Holy Spirit. Or was it just my imagination? Sometimes I want to go back to it- as I stopped it at Easter. Was it wrong to have this 'conversation' with the Lord, in writing?

I'm sorry catholicism is false, you guys overcomplicate salvation. The gospel to believe is that Jesus died for your sins was buried and rose again. Salvation is by grace through faith. "In whom after ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy spirit of promise." "By grace you have been saved through faith, AND NOT THAT OF YOURSELVES it is a GIFT of God. Not of works lest any man should boast." Works is human effort of any kind, read the book of John. Jesus clearly gives the criteria for Salvation (unless you think he was lying), "he that believeth on the son hath everlasting life" stop being a work salvationist. "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by the faith of Jesus christ."
