Hope you all enjoyed this project! This was a very mentally challenging and stressful project as it took months of waiting and things going wrong. Regardless I love how it turned out! Also good luck to all of you on the giveaway!

Great video. Real detailed. Hoping I win an enclosure for my kids so they can learn more about Mantids and hopefully build their own Enclosure.

19:50 I was wondering what editing software you used, now I know lol Yeah I really liked the video the bigger enclosures looked really good I also liked the vlog type of video and if this is something you like more then I would sugest that you do that more and more For the giveaway, I'm gonna be honest I don't know what I'm gonna use it for exactly yet but I do know IF I win it that I will do a vid about it. Last year I went to a expo where they had mantisses so I'll try to get one this year and then that could be a perfect enclosure😊 Cheers Silas!👍

it changes to white cause u force the polymers on the rubberband to become more ordered which then reflects the light differently making it seem more white, happens with othe colored elastics aswell
@hodesigns3 ай бұрын
That’s very interesting, I kinda wanna try with a colored one now!

Love your Mantis rack! All of them look great, you did a great job scaping these! I could sit and stare at nicely scaped bug or reptile enclosures for hours. 😍 I've always wanted to get into keeping a mantis but have yet to have the opportunity to do so. (Edit: I would use this enclosure to start this journey if I won it! :) ) They're such neat creatures! I blame Luke's Bug Adventures for my new fascination with mantises 😂 But hey, if it wasn't for Luke infecting my KZbin feed, I wouldn't have stumbled across your channel! 😁 ( say "infected" lovingly. His channel is great and I am so glad he has great mentors in his life that have encouraged his love of bugs and reptiles!)

Thank you! I totally agree, nice looking enclosure capture my attention for hours 😂 and I would totally recommend trying out mantids, they are very rewarding and cool insects to keep!

@@hodesigns Definitely plan to sometime in the near future, hopefully before the end of this year! They are just such neat creatures and there are so many cool varieties of mantis 💙 So beautiful and cool to watch. Just have to work on getting things together in order to keep one first. I'm very much an over-research-and-over-prepare kind of pet keeper 😂 Looking into a leopard gecko this year as well and am looking to go bioactive and have my own feeder insect colonies so I never have to worry about having solid food available.
@hodesigns7 ай бұрын
lol, I am also an over-researcher too. Not a bad thing tho, quite the opposite, better to be prepared! Leopard geckos are awesome! My sister has one and she’s great!

I have mantis’s around my yard. This will hold one I find that’s big enough to eat houseflies and crickets. Once they’re adult I let them go so these are perfect sized

I'd probably use the enclosure for a jumper. BTW, all rubber heats up when you stretch it. Put a rubber band to your lips, and stretch it. You'll feel it heat up.

Awesome! Jumpers are super cool! Also thanks, I figure me it had something to do with that but wasn’t quite sure how lol

Hey. All of your enclosures turned out great. Where did you get the cork from?

Thanks man! I ordered it on Amazon, they have a bunch of different ones, they’re all basically the same tho, just look for ones with good reviews.

Where do you get the mantis from?

I get them from an online website. Here’s the link www.fatalmantis.com/mantis
@Jake-rz4bn4 ай бұрын
why aren’t/don’t the cheaper ones suitable/work?
@hodesigns4 ай бұрын
They were very unstable and there were gaps between the pieces at the bottom which allowed for substrate to fall through. And they didn’t quite fit in the stand but that was more of a problem for my situation. Overall they weren’t awful but just not ideal for an enclosure like that.
@Jake-rz4bn4 ай бұрын
@@hodesigns ahh okay! thanks! but they would be fine to use if you put leca on the bottom and put some window mesh on top so the substrate wouldn’t get down there?
@hodesigns4 ай бұрын
It would probably be fine, but more for me it was them not fitting. If they fit I probably would’ve tried to make it work.
@karentrinkaus1172 ай бұрын
I've used some of the knock-offs from Amazon for jumping spiders and larger mantids. They have to be sitting on a dish to catch excess water (depends on how much you water, mine were planted). There are also decent gaps in the "hinge" area of the door where feeders could potentially get out, depending on what you're keeping.
