Best time to fish in my experience is in conditions like this.....atmosphere is in turmoil, usually it happens before the direct hit, and the chance of catching something extraordinary becomes very high. In these conditions, also you need to be ready to leave immediately at all times..... On more than 1 occasion, Ive gotten my PBs in these exact conditions.....Window is short, so you gotta be there while keeping personal safety as your #1 priority.

@@borntofishouterbanks6764 in my experience with largemouth bass....a building system cause the fish to become wildly active, hitting anything which moves.....99% of the time, the bites from these fish get more and more subtle as the fish grows larger....I attribute this to mouth size....as the bait gets inhaled, it'll tap the inside of the mouth giving you the heads up...as they get up into the 5 to 6 pound range, it starts getting more difficult to detect bites.... My point is....1% of the time, usually as a storm is about to start, DO NOT look for the subtle hit...whatever is happening with pressure, causes them to hit hard, fast, and violently, and if you're not ready or prepared, you will lose the fish every time..... Also ironic.....and I do not believe it to be coincidence.....whenever I've gotten these strikes and got a successful hookset....as soon as I pick them up out of the water, unhook and photograph, the downpour which follows had me getting back to the car as fast as I could.....has happened on several occasions, with the same conditions.....this is truly how you learn to fish.....weather is as important as the act of fishing itself.

My family is headed to Avon today! With forecast for rougher surf later this week, is it even worth surf fishing past Tuesday on the northern beaches or should we focus more on the sound and southern beaches those days (hard east wind from Wednesday and on).

I would definitely try to do some bait fishing in close from shore on ocean side But sound side has been pretty productive entire summer I would say try both side and ocean and see what works best for you
