Hi Clifford, thanks a lot for your video, Off late I am working on commissioning of quite a few control valve using AMS Device Manager, I am just wondering if you are able to clarify my doubts on the following. 1) For a newly installed valve would you recommend using the initialization of the positioner using reference value without any product flowing under the valve plug or with product? 2) I have also installed DTM to get the graphics which I can't see in DD while performing the full stroke test, do you know if there is way to get the graphics in DD without launching DTM? 3) Once the positioner is initialized with reference value does that mean we are all set to get the online diagnostics without performing anything else as my understanding is during the initialization the valve moves through its entire working range and the reference test plots the the friction and hysteresis in the background to generate diagnostics information when in service. 4) Are you able to explain in the Drive signal graph what exactly is delta Y in the Y axis? 5) Do we need to be concerned unless we see anything in the extended messages of the diagnostics?

Hello Aritra, You’d probably be better off connecting with Emerson with your questions on AMS. I tried my best to answer your question below, but I’d connect with an AMS expert at Emerson to make sure you get all your answers. See below: 1) Likely without flow, but refer to the manual for the positioner to be sure. 2) I would connect with someone at Emerson to answer this question. Do you happen have access to Guardian Support for AMS? You could also signup for an Emerson Exchange 365 account and ask you questions on AMS there. 3) You should be good, but once again Emerson would be good to verify this with. 4) It’s hard to tell without looking at the graph, but I believe Y is the position of the valve. The graph is probably showing the drive signal vs the position. 5) I’d confirm this with Emerson as well.

@@AutomationCliff Thanks a lot for your reply mate, We are working with Emerson representative to commission the instruments using AMS, but the DDs are upto the different manufacturers, it seems like Samson have developed the DDs long time back but haven't done much development compared to their software Trovis View, let me know once you know little more, but thank you much for your videos and reply, I can relate the results while performing the initialization

@@aritra041987 Okay, I didn’t realize you were asking specifically about the Samson positioner. Yes, I’ve noticed an update is need too. Some features don’t seem to work in AMS for the positioners. You’ll have to bug Samson about it!
