Toby Says: I think this is the most finished-sounding of all the unused tracks. I made this before I really knew Undyne’s personality, so while the arrangement is good, I felt like it didn’t sound enough like being heroically punched in the face.

Undyne's personality felt a bit rushed. Every moment you see of her before the fight is her being menacing, yet shrouded in a mysterious cloud. Papyrus perfectly builds up the tension before you even meet her, adding more to mystery veil. Yet, moments before the fight, she throws all of that right out the mountain. And quite frankly, I'm really disappointed. Who expects the leader of the Royal fucking Guard to be funny and quirky? Just... this theme. This should've been her theme. Just like the Undyne song, this sends chills down your spine, but also adds to that powerful feel.

honestly Undertale is a game all about messing with expectations. When you first play the game flowey acts like the friendly tutorial character but quickly shows his true nature as a sociopathic murderer. Then we meet Toriel who since the encounter with flowey makes us question if we can trust her, plus her actions of tryign to keep you in the ruins scream as a might suspicious, though in the end it is safe to trust her. Sans is scary in the scene where you meet him as you can see his shadow following you and its creepy as hell. Then we learn he's just a big doofus who likes to make puns. (then we later learn he knows WAAAAAY more then he lets on and can be genuinely intimidating if he wants making him a double expectation averter) Papyrus is a loveable eccentric skeleton obsessed with capturing the human through increasingly elaborate (though increasingly ineffective) puzzles. But the impression we get is that he isn't that strong, he's just a wackey zany skeleton. Then his bosss fight his attacks dont even come close to being a threat. Then he does his signature "blue attack" which the entire previous level before was teaching you about blue bullets that you have to stay still to avoid being hit by.... Then he turns your heart blue and becomes quite challenging! (personally i refused to accept the easy way out of letting me go after losing a few times out of pride) Then after he spares you and lets you path we see him talking to undyne who our first impression is this silent intimidating knight who HEARS you moving through the grass in a pretty scary moment and chases you throughout all of waterfall. Then at the end she starts talking.... And she is an incredibly funny (and monumentally baddass) warrior straight out of an anime. Who is clear cares alot about monsterkind. However like Sans despite her silliness if you play the genocide route you can find the lengths she will go to protect monsters and how intimidating she can really be, jumping infront of your attack on a child that would have killed most monsters. And at that point in genocide you were used to all monsters and bosses dying in a single hit. Then undyne shows up and gives you one of the hardest fights in the entire game. Even Asgore is subject to this. As he hear conflicting reports of him being this amazingly powerful monster (which is true) who is cold blooded and ruthless (mostly from toriel) to being refferred to as a pushover and amd big softy. Most people would think it must be one or the other but it turns out he is both and while he doesnt want to kill you he must in order to save his people. I feel Undyne was handled perfectly for this game, as it's a game all about messing with expectations.

tbh when i hear this i kind of think of it as a "first phase" theme. not as in it's an earlier spear of justice, that's fact, but like, i could see this being undyne's battle theme when she's just the scary knight pursuing you in hopes of taking your soul, i mean it even has "undyne", the theme that plays during her introduction as that, very audible as part of it, but then like once she reaches a certain point she "turns red" so to speak and does her whole "SCREW IT!" thing from the game when she suddenly drops the facade and drops the helmet and then it gets harder and the used spear of justice kicks in. like how nyeh heh heh is used at the start of the papyrus battle but then bonetrousle kicks in when he turns you blue.

I feel like this song would fit really well if it was the one playing if you had killed Papyrus prior. If you have,the leadup to Undyne's fight is much more serious. "Ngaaaah!" doesn't play, and she instead mourns Papyrus' passing, and promises to kill you with eyes burning with hate. Yet despite this, once the actual fight begins, the music and dialogue has the same energetic and comedic tone. Using this fight in a more serious version of her neutral battle would have been great.

God I love the original Spear of Justice, but there's something about the middle part of this song that just gets me. It feels more powerful. Stronger. It makes it feel like you're going against some real shit you know? Yet, despite that, it still feels too...dull to be for Undyne. It doesn't have that energy the ingame Spear of Justice does. It doesn't feel like Undyne. And the beginning and ending parts just don't feel like they fit at all to me. I just pitch shifted this (by -2) and the part that plays at 0:29 sounds like spear of justice/ngahhh I mean it already does but the pitch shift made it sound almost identical

That'd be impossible since the Alternian trolls only exist when the Beforus group fails. Because the Alternian group was created expressly to win biologically, and left insufficiently trained anyways from a lack of trolls on Alternia, they'd probably succeed by even more of a margin, thus never spawning the second troll wave, who would never be able to miscreate the human universe, which wouldn't be able to create *their* scratched universe. Given that, with no one to distract her, Calliope would triumph over Caliborn, and in doing so, be given the options between a valiant irrelevant death and an irrelevant death.

Undyne's personality felt a bit rushed. Every moment you see of her before the fight is her being menacing, yet shrouded in a mysterious cloud. Papyrus perfectly builds up the tension before you even meet her, adding more to mystery veil. Yet, moments before the fight, she throws all of that right out the mountain. And quite frankly, I'm really disappointed. Who expects the leader of the Royal fucking Guard to be funny and quirky? Just... this theme. This should've been her theme. Just like the Undyne song, this sends chills down your spine, but also adds to that powerful feel.

to be honest,i LOVE IT when she just throws all of the mysterious and menacing and just kill you.Spear Of Justice is the perfect theme for her personality but still,this track have a lot of tense and child and i love it.Maybe it would be nice if this track play when she is serious about protecting the other monster and hold her anger back?
