I find it frustrating sometimes knowing I could be so much better with more and more practice but the amount of cars I want to build is very limited! But then doing it 'for a living' probably wouldn't be much fun. And it's very hard on the hands and body!

We're getting there slowly. Is really starting to look like a car now. So much so one of the dogs jumped into it to go for a ride the other day as she likes to do.

Yep, it will sort of swing up out of the way. When down it helps cover the front of the dynamo which I have a cork in!

Excellent progress! I like the little corner jigs but you do realise that using a 3d printer is ‘cheating’ 😉. With the rear number plate, can you get away with one on either side if the tail section? Bit like a Bugatti, (or a Wragg!)

I think 3D printing to help make the car is ok-ish. 3D prints ON the car is cheating though :) Pretty sure I don't have anything so far? But have definitely used 3D printed mock ups for things in the past. And CAD models to laser cut paper gaskets.

Oh, and number plate. Not sure that's legal here. They were starting to clamp down on it and tighten the rules, one of which was no plates mounted vertically. But I think they rolled that back since the realised that affected many trailers where that was the only way to mount them! I think the rule change was around making it a specific item to check in our WOF (like your MOT) which means a specific item you would fail on and too many things would have failed.

@@thebracketfactory The printers now more or less work out of the box. Not quite as much tinkering needed as in the old days.

getting closer, question do you think galvanic corrosion will occur between the aluminum and stainless screws? have a great Christmas best for the new year cheers. you answered my question at 7. 27 in

Apparently a large amount of aluminium and small amount of stainless should minimise it. I suspect by the time it's a problem it won't be MY problem!

instead of using an old fashioned glass plate, try a modern PEI plate i think you'll be pleasantly surprised

I really need to catch up on all the latest 3D printing things. Might even be time to get a 'proper' printer but I need something with a 300x300 print area.
