I think Gilgun was great in the pilot and will be great, but as an actual Irishman his accent is quite diddly aye, as in somewhat of a caricature. Then again Preacher in general isn't supposed to realistic and takes knowing pleasure in certain caricatures. Also I suppose if he did a dead on accent some might find him quite hard to understand.

If you try to reason it in the show, you could argue that since his character's been alive for 100+ years, the accent's changed some. You know, how you lose and pick up different words and sounds depending on the region you're living in? He may have lost it a bit at one point and picked it up again later. This is just the character, though. I'm not talking about Gilgun himself.
