I enjoyed the series and Danny, you do make it fun with your John Wayne and Saint of killer impressions. I think the whole idea of the Saint of Killets killing God was very silly but overall a great storyline. Looking forward to the next video drop.

Oh yeah, it does seem far fetched but the supernatural stuff is intended to be a metaphor for an existing part. Like how Cassidy being a vampire was a metaphor for him being a drain to others with his bad influence, Jessie rejecting that powerful entity could be him living independently by killing his fear away

Good job mate. Looking forward to October. I loved the Preacher show and I think it was actually really good, but got screwed by knowing they were gonna be cancelled. It’s hard for comics to be 100% transferred to tv because of the ability to draw what you want. Plus story lines etc.

Man, the series is Really brilliant. Despite it being crude and crazy, Garth Ennis has also made something compelling. For the TV series, while I liked some of the things in there like the castings of Jesse Custer, Cassidy, Tulip, Eugene, Hoover, and Herr Starr as well as The Saint Of Killers, the show overall is inferior to the comic series as it strays Far Away from the source material and leaving out thinhs that would've made for such an emotional impact. Like the rest of Jesse's childhood. Sure, his best friend was an Inbred. But,he was also the only friend Jesse had at the time. A d under a strict abusive homelife, Jesse just needed a friend. Even if that friend was inbred. And speaking of which. I REALLY have no idea why they true to make Jesse's captors so sympathetic. His grandmother was never really a good person and only believed in her own true beliefs and was Very right winged for her side of the church. Making her this grandmother who only cares so much for Jesse is VERY WRONG. And also Jesse's abusive uncle was just made into a total Jobber in the show. There he got tricked by Tulip a couple of times, got easily worded by Jesse a couple of times, and for the majority of the times, had to follow orders from somebody. Not only that, but, his character was nomexistent. Like really, he just stood there and did nothing nor said much else. The last time he fought Jesse was when they got into that motel and started beating everyone up. And throughout the series, it just felt like he stood there like a background character. And it was until then that we suddenly remember that he Was important to Jesse in the show when they fought. We just totally forgot. It felt like the show did too. Where was the emotional moments of Jesse's abuse. Where was that big trial that Jesse tried to have against his abusive uncle? The man who made Jesse's life a living hell. Also, while the casting and character of Cassidy was Spot on, he really didn't have much emotional depths as his comic counterpart. No history of relationship problems, no history of him getting drug abuse which led him towards downward spirals. Nothing else that made him this extremely flawed man. And we never got to see D and that Voodoo guy. They never forgave him in the comics and they should've had a bigger role to forgive him in the show but didn't. We do have his son. But, there's nothing else that could reflect on Cassidy's massive faults like he has on the show. the stuff that made everyone think he's nothing more than a piece of @#$%. We also have Tulip. While she is awesome on the show. I don't understand why they have to change her backstory. I mean, she was like this because of her father. But, instead of her father being this big role model and s man that got her interested in boy stuff, he was just some down on his luck guy who had a wife that thought nothing on her family instead of the wife that died that gave Tulip her own arc. Really, nothing relatable nor compelling in the show that was in the comics. I also don't know why they change Odin's character from a racist town owner and KKK member to just the crazy town owner. People love to bash on these kinds of people. Why change so much on Odin. And speaking of..... Why change so much of Jesse's past. I mean, sure, his father wasn't a Viatnan vet around the show's time. But, why change other things about hisstory? Why remove his mother and her family histiry? Why didn't you make his father a patriot that hates communism? Why change so much on Jesse's family history and his emotional story with his mother? Why? I also don't like the remo of the Russian guy. Eugene didn't get to do much in thefinale. The Saint's backstory isn't nearly as compelling as the comocs. So, yeah, compared to the comics, the show overall is inferior to it in many ways. Unlike The Boys where the changes the remake the show as good as the comics, the changes in Preacher makes the show inferior overall. Getting rid if the more important and emotional aspects of the series.

I just finished watching the show and was curious about the comic. I agree that the last season was hard to watch but I liked the last 2 episodes. NOT so much for the story but for some of the small character moments. It's a mess but even in that mess some stuff actually made me feel something. I think it was ahead of it's time. Maybe today it would've been more "accepted" for it's weird tone and not so limited by TV standarts.

Greetings, I come from the future. 2024 to be precise. 🤣 Anyhow, thanks for the great recap. Preacher is something I typically reread every other year or so. Not having fully unpacked since moving, I've sorta skipped a cycle. The show just hit Netflix and yeah, at first I thought these guys could do some justice, but even after allowing for fair differences in adapting it all to live action I was left sad. If they went way off book but kept the characterizations of our guys I could forgive them, but they just kept slipping away. 😢 Jesse never seemed tough enough and it felt like Cass and Tulip bumped uglies more than she and Jesse. Blasphemy! 😂 They also cut out a major theme- in as much as Preacher was a satire of the West and Americana, it was also a heartfelt love letter. I always thought it funny such sentiment came from a native Irishman like Ennis. 😅 Like you said, the last season was a slog. I gotta find my books... Meanwhile, thanks again for the great look back at a classic and your thoughts on the series. 🙏

The TV show got me into the comics and I feel the comics did things for the sake of it, and not for any other reason. The TV weaved in the things the comic was really doing the best overall and kept out what it didn't, like the weird sex workers, or diverging of the story they did so so many times in the comics. Plus they didn't resolve it with just 3 various letters of writing from each characters which is a cop out of explaining your ending. there are fantastic elements of the comic but personally, the TV show took those concepts and turned it into something that wasn't just edgy for the sake of it

The Duke in Jesse's head,in ways it's like his conscience, reminds me of clearance from Tarantino's True Romance, who had elvis in his head. In my humble opinion and I didn't think I'd feel this way,the comic book of preacher is superior to the seth Rogen, AMC adaptation. What made this comic series strong(character development and interaction, raunchy humor and over the top graphic violence, pace and structure)is taken from the live action series. I understand that the 2 mediums of storytelling is not identical and I did enjoy what I seen AMC release(if it wasn't for seth and goldberg, I would have never heard of preacher) but the journey you took myself and many others on leaves me more pleased 😎
