He is on top of the cage at about 5:10. so he had to be so close to the person who taught him all that. Not in a cage all the time. Same with my birds.

@Amber W - My goodness, please don't assume things that you don't know anything about. It's quite, quite obvious that Lester Dunn, the bird's owner has devoted a tremendous amount of time teaching his precious Baby Birt how to talk, etc. The way he chatters is just more proof that he's also quite a happy little guy. It's unkind to "ASSume" the worst about someone when you know nothing about them. Plus, it's quite possible that this particular cage is in a sunroom and only used for that particular setting. A lot of bird owners have multiple cages that are used for various different situations.

@Lester Dunn - Thank you so very much for sharing your wonderful Baby Birt with us!! I'm getting ready to get a budgie here shortly so I've been watching a lot of videos like this. Baby Birt is the most amazing little guys I've ever seen. It's obvious that you have devoted a lot of time to this precious little guy! I pray that I will be blessed with an adorable little budgie that is even just a fraction as wonderful as this amazing bird! I had 2 budgies when I was a kid but they never learned to talk. I didn't know much about their abilities back then and because they had each other, they mostly concentrated on being together. I just wanted to thank you for sharing this joyful baby with us. I do hope and pray you are well and that God has blessed Baby Birt with a very long life.

Thank you RDLtracher62. Male or female budgies will talk if you persevere. Say the same thing, in the same tone and the same rythem at every opportunity. Baby Birt knows 30 rhymes and half dozen Bible texts. He is now 12 years old. Still talking. Good luck with new budgie.

Did you get Baby Birt at a Pet Store or a private breeder. What kind of Budgie is Baby Birt ??? He has a little fluffy head of feathers on his head that most Budgie don't.....This is the smartest little Budgie that I have seen on KZbin yet !! He sounds like he has a British accent !!! For goodness sake, why would you think this is a sad bird in a cage too small. This bird is as happy as can be and is not INSIDE the cage. My bird likes having a safe little cage to retreat to,but also has five cages in all. Try being positive about such a beautiful little talking parakeet.

She or he also has to provide a clean and healthy place for her bird. The birds are great and in exchange for their being such great pets, the owner has to provide for them.

I'm curious: how did you teach him to talk to begin with and when did he start to talk. Mine was born dec 30/2020 and I'm hoping he will learn to talk. Mine is an English budgie, and apparently they learn easily. He is 4 months now and chatters but I don't recognize words. Are you better to limit your vocabulary in the beginning? I hope you still have Birt....he is adorable.

doesn't NEED a partner i he is getting plenty of interaction from his owner during the day, which would seem to be the case as he wouldn't talk so well without someone spending many hours with him. With a partner he is likely to chat less as he will bond more with the other bird than his human

This is not an appropriate cage for a budgie. They need a rectangular cage at least 3'X2'X2'. This kind of rounded cage is terrible for them.

He/she looks so depressed in that small cage...he/she deserves better. he/she needs toys and a lot of more freedom outside the cage. Please get him/her a bigger cage, it would fill my heart full of happiness if you would. Seeing such a sad bird makes my heart break.😔 Look at his/her condition. I can clearly see he is depressed. Please do something to make him happy. It makes me so sad seeing him like this.

That lovely little bird shows every sign of being absolutely and entirely contented. He's not depressed at all. A chatty bird is a happy bird and he is so clever. And the time his owners must've given him and the patience for him to learn all those lovely sweet things goes to show how much they care for him and is so admirable. I feel bad that I don't give mine enough time and that's why he doesn't talk yet?.
