I can also attest that this was 100% genuine!!!! I met Boo in the mid 80's and will NEVER forget being blown away that this tiny parakeet not only could talk but spoke in Michael Vale's voice and said "Time to Make the Donuts". For years and years I wasn't sure if I had imagined it. I realize it is hard to believe but I was there and heard it for myself!!!!

That little one needed another budgie for company. I always had two parakeets, and had a large macrame piece that wrapped around the cage, and hung from the ceiling.. It had areas where I could insert perches and food/water dishes. Their wings were clipped (although they could fly for very short distances), and always returned to their home base. I never closed the cage door. They went inside the cage to play with their toys, and to sleep at night. It was a perfect set-up. They were always together. I feel sad for one bird families.

He really should be called "she". If Boo was a true Lutino, with the characteristic red eyes, it was most probably a female. It's not easy to see in the video but the top of its beak, where the nostrils are, does look brownish. Lutino and albino budgies are almost always females, for the same reason color blind humans are almost always males, those genes are on the X chomosome. In mammals, males have XY chomosomes, and in birds XY is for females. But male or female, that was one cute critter.

no, it is not typical for budgies (what he is parakeets are many things you know like an apple is a fruit but a fruit doesnt have to be an apple) most budgies dont talk any near as much as this one. Males talk 10x more than females for most species.

I get a kick out of people who say that the budgies are not talking it is fake . Let me tell you it is real I had one who said over 200 words and phrases . His Name was Mickey budgie .There are videos of him to and don't even thing about saying its fake because it isn't . This and other budgie videos are real put out on YT for the enjoyment of others who have them and know it is 100% real talking budgies. Besides that they have the largest vocab of all the birds including the African Gray .

Aww, I've watched some of Mickey's videos and loved them! Thank you for sharing with all of us on YT. Out of the 4 budgies I've owned over the years (1 at a time), 2 have talked (my current budgie is about 3 years old and still learning more words and phrases). They're wonderful little birds!

Emily Lowery Maybe they made it seem that way, and they planned it all out, so that it would seem real. Because they could make the talking go in with how he moved his head as well.

Are the male parakeets more apt to be talkers compared to the females? I had a few cockatiels and someone told me that the male of the species was the major talker. I was just wondering if this was so with parakeets. Anyone know who's on here? I'm thinking of getting a new baby soon.
@glowlantern527310 жыл бұрын
I have raised and owned over 200 cockatiels and parakeets and the following info pertains to those 2 breeds only. I have never had a female talker. Not all male birds talk. A male parakeet has blue colored nostrils that deepen in color as the bird gets older. Generally, the male nostrils of both breeds are wider and larger than the female. A young male cockatiel always tends to be more vocal than a female who is quiet in comparison. After six months it is easy to tell the sex of most birds. A male likes to look at himself in a mirror. If your bird makes any sound that sounds like a word you should keep repeating it back. Like "bad" or "what." They start to catch on. Even a baby bird that gets attached to one of your females, is probably a male. Of course there are always exceptions to the rule. DNA sex tests are also available for birds.

That k-pop trash can. Females can talk, you just might have to take a little more time and be patient. My Birdie says pretty-baby- bird, she learned them individually but now says the whole phrase. Plus good morning baby bird, I was surprised when she figured out she could put words together to make sentences because I will usually just teach her a word or two at a time. And she likes to make kissing sounds. I kiss her she kisses me back kind of thing. A wolf whistle was the first thing she learned. She reminds me of a construction worker whistling at girls walking by.😘 Ya gotta admit, she is a pretty baby bird!
