Today, I’m thrilled to share a video showcasing the rigorous earthquake testing conducted on a precast concrete building. Here's a deeper look into the specific design practices that contribute to its impressive seismic resilience:
Energy Dissipating Connections: The connections between precast elements are crucial. We use specially designed connectors that allow parts of the building to move independently, dissipating seismic energy through controlled motions. This reduces the stress concentration in critical areas, preventing structural failures.
Reinforced Shear Walls: Our precast buildings include shear walls with high tensile reinforcement grids. These walls are strategically placed to resist the lateral forces caused by an earthquake, effectively transferring these forces down to the foundation.
Post-Tensioning Techniques: Post-tensioning is a method where precast concrete elements are prestressed with high-strength steel tendons, which are tensioned after the concrete has cured.
