Perfect ! Thank you for the video. I bought that months ago. But the diameter was to big for my little millingmachine. I put it away. BUT NOW I CAN USE IT ON MY LATHE :-) Thanks again Jordan . Best regards Carl , Norway

Steve I want to start by saying that I really appreciate your videos. You have taught me a lot of very helpful techniques and I enjoy your style. It’s very impressive how you made your workshop in such a small space as well. By the way my wife absolutely loves your chickens. As far as this video I think this is a great idea and use for this tool. You could use a second one on the cross slide so you don’t go over on you depth of cut. Possibly a great replacement on the mini lathe for a DRO?

A multimeter with a beeping continuity test mode should do the trick too. Just mout one probe isolated and connect the other one to the machine. I did this trick, to find the right position, when do internal thread repairs with a cnc lathe. The internal thread cutting tool was insulated to the tool holder by thin packing tape. One probe was connectet to the tool, the other one to any metal on the machine. This way the multimeter beeps, when the tool touches the thread.

I am new too lathe work and really enjoy watching and learning from the videos you post so thanks.. I had not thought of centering like that before I just saw you doing it

Hi Adrian Thanks, I think I did a video on this HSS 45 deg tool sometime ago. It is great for centering if you start the cut off-centre, whilst feeding into the face at the same time, until it reaches centre, so that it is a v-shaped cut only. Regards Steve

Hi, I take it that it's no good for edge finding on plastic As the body and the ball probe need a conductive path between them ?

Will it work in a mill spindle or doesn’t it spring to the side?

steve.... wy i need this for ?? on your indecaters... is al wat i need.. ( 0,001 ) is bether on a dail.. so do i need a bieper ?? a lite ??? no...( the bleedof the lite is slower dan a indigater ) way ?
@SteveJordan6 жыл бұрын
You don't need it then. I find it great though on certain components where I need to concentrate and not keep taking eyes off what I'm machining to look at a DTI. There are certain uses for everything...but you may not need one.

Steve, please, link for the tail stock chuck.
@SteveJordan6 жыл бұрын
They are listed on Ebay as (Triple Bearing MT2 shank Revolving Lathe Tailstock Chuck Adaptor Myford thread). Sometimes you can find UK sellers but more expensive than India. Obviously you have to use a chuck with a Myford thread backplate, although you can get them with the Boxford thread as well. Regards Steve

there must be something magical about Myford lathes. Seems every single person with one is compelled to refer to it by name rather than "my lathe." I have a 14" x 40' engine lathe and I almost never name the manufacturer. Maybe if I had a Monarch tool room lather I'd say that. "On my Monarch 10EE" Or My "American Pacemaker" Or Over here on my Lodge and Shipley" Yah I think I'd day the manufacturer's name in those instances. HEY!!! What if the uses hits it a little too hard. Will that bend the shank or does it flex?
