Precision fermentation: When does it make commercial sense?

AGFunder person READ THIS!!!! the most brilliant niche for PF (according to me ;) is pet food - I’m sure you - being a fellow mensa member - would agree that it is beyond ironic that pet owners feed their animals; pigs, chickens, cows, fish and all sorts of other sentient beings as they think their animals deserve the best life possible - one of these PF companies needs to exploit this HUGE opportunity! Pet food that is not a source of animal cruelty and/or animal death!!!!

We are going to have a lot more to worry about than that sort of nonsense in the future. In 10 years you will have problems finding and affording food, let alone your pets.

@@Withnail1969: that may be true, however, for a beta version that can be brought to scale for human consumption, it’s an easier on ramp to large scale efficient and ecologically sustainable food options. Pets will probably be confined to a few elites…😢…sadly some, as always in times of famine most will be consumed….and historically it has gotten far worse at times…

@@pohkeee it's a waste of time. it can't possibly be more efficient than what we do now, growing plants in fields.

Insects as protein are more cost effective I would argue as they can process food waste very efficiently. At present it would seem that PF is best for high value products

@@DanWrench I'm sure you are right at this point, until PF scales up - even then, I'm sure that there will be a place for bugs like soldier flies and many others
