I just don't understand why every competitor is on the same bandwagon, like that is the only receipt for success, I know most people do this for fun so none of these guys are very good. I love precision rifles and long range shooting, that being said none of these drills require a precision rifle, in fact I've never seen one drill from any match that required a precision rifle, yet every competitor using them.... unless I miss read the rules Semi Autos are allowed too, but I guess it may depend on the individual comp. These are semi auto drills, with a 16-18" AR-15 you would dominate In most if not all the drills.

@@George-nx5lo Balance point usually sucks. Accuracy usually sucks compared to a well built bolt gun. They're just not ideal.

Really, the biggest reason is that the biggest benefit a gas gun brings is speed, but speed is not the biggest score factor, misses are. If I'm trying to be competitive, and the biggest determining factor in my score is whether or not I can make first-round hits on a 12" plate at 800yd, then I am absolutely going to grab a custom-built bolt action over even a really well-built gas gun. In something like 2-gun, absolutely a semi-auto will clean house, because speed is critical, and misses don't matter. But in this game, a single missed shot is a missed point
