@@Vespyr_That’s not entirely true. In many states the law is written such that it’s illegal to communicate or meet with a minor or someone you believe to be a minor. They don’t have to actually exist. The bigger reason is that these guys aren’t law enforcement and aren’t working directly with law enforcement. It’s likely most of their evidence simply wouldn’t be admissible. So unless law enforcement finds something else in their investigation, charges are unlikely.

In some states, these stings actually do end up in arrests and jail time and even if they don’t, there still was a sting instead of an actual kid present that day, which would’ve been traumatized and harmed, if that were not the case. Also, regarding the laughable sentences child predators get these days, these humiliations do more work of ensuring that a potential predator won’t do it in the first place or will not do it a second time, because having your face and potentially even your current address leaked as a predator is one of the worst fates Someone can even have. Our justice system maybe doesn’t, but the general public doesn’t take lightly to crimes like this.
