Love this movie. You have a predator thats young, bold and brash but also careless at times. And an old out of shape cop who has years of street smart experience and a history of winning gunfights in LA’s wild narcotic fueled warzone crime streets. The hero is a literal opposite of Arnolds one man army solider and to make it plausible he could defeat a predator they gave the predators a lot more in depth backstory by inadvertently having this one be young and wreck less. Which totally makes it plausible for Glovers character to come out on top. If only we ever got that 3rd film set in pirate times that this film set up. Would have been grand.

I relate him to someone like nathan drake who comes out of insanely dangerous situations alive due to right moves at the right time and luck, a lot of luck. Also it was confirmed by the movies filmmakers that this predator was in fact a younger predator than the one Arnold faced.

Danny Glover not only knows that he's a badass but he knows that the predator wants him badly at this point. The predator knowing that Danny is the alpha is so ready to give it to him too. Danny Glover (Harrington) not only survives multiple attacks by The predator but ultimately kills him in the end with his own weapon, something that not even Dutch Schaefer could do in predator 1. For that reason alone I think predator 2 is an underrated classic. I think people don't like the whole city aspect but I mean that's how Los Angeles is. The predator stalks him since the beginning of the movie and realizes that Danny Glover is the alpha. He watches him kill groups of humans with a single weapon in the first 5 minutes of the film and realizes that this guy is going to be a challenge. If you think about it in that aspect this movie is actually better than the first one. The city hunter had multiple opportunities to kill Harrigan in the meat packing plant but instead, opts to play with its food and chase Glover to the roof. Shows a bit of the Yautja honor code and it thinks Glover is an alpha human and wants to fight him one on one without interference from other humans. As far as using its tools, the city hunter probably wanted to use all of its technology but Harrigan ruins those prospects pretty early in the fight. Such a fantastic underrated film.

I would debate 1 is more mystery/thriller with a lil suspense and more serious tone. Something 2 doesnt capture. But the action with a lil shot of comedy and delving into the predators lore like the gadgets ect..is what i love. But 1 circumstances where different because it was survival..while harrigan was on home turf with a lil more artillery. And also Dutch had to craft a bow from scratch. I love em both tho but just sharing a perspective!

Love this whole battle. Harrigan triumphs because his fear allows him to adapt, react and improvise quicker. The predator fails because its anger and overconfidence makes him reckless.

He's actually called the City Hunter Predator. As with other members of Yautja race including Jungle Hunter, City Hunter was nurtured into ruthless headhunters who hunt challenging prey for sport and followed his kind's strict codes. City Hunter also utilized similar methods with Jungle Hunter's in attacking armed humans he found during the heat of turf wars as well and share the same standards with the latter do. While City Hunter had more types of equipment than Jungle Hunter at his disposal, he was not as experienced as Jungle Hunter did because the latter spent a long time on the field than him. His approach in hunting worthy prey in Los Angeles was a bit reckless since he too excited upon discovering Harrigan's worth as his challenging prey that he overestimated how powerful his opponent can be that resulting his grave disadvantages in their final fight. In spite of his recklessness as the fight at the subway also resulting some of the civilians got killed due to caught in the crossfire, City Hunter diligently follow his kind's code. He only attacked armed humans to test their worthiness and spare children and pregnant women he encountered. Upon discovered that Leona who fought him pregnant, the predator was horrified and choose to spare her. When encountered a child who carries a gun when stalking Harrigan, City Hunter was shown cautious that he pointed his plasma caster on the boy, but eventually spared him after vision mode on his bio-mask confirmed that the gun was a toy. City Hunter still uphold his honor in his battle against Harrigan, as in spite of him shown retreating after gunned down by the hero and lose his mask, it was only to reorganize his plan to deal him upon discovered how tough he can be and running away like a coward is never an option nor something taught by his kind. His determination to uphold his honor culminated to the point of him willing to choose either self-destructing with his opponents or confront his opponent in mortal combat (though he only able to choose the latter as Harrigan cut his wrist gauntlet off) that made him still considered as honored Yautja by his clan leader.
