The local fish store near me has red tail cats. I see them always being returned once they hit a foot long and it’s always sad to see them stuffed back into a small box

Allan T I think the point is it’s a massive fish you can’t really rehome it easily. Monster fish really should only be sold by breeders not fish shops unless those shops actually have capacity or a deal with someone who does to take them back, to have room for them to grow. Most fish/pet stores don’t have the capacity for any of these fish once they’re not tiny babies anymore.

The 58K pool would be at constant risk now ... including the beautiful twin platinum gars, the albino giant gourami and the arapaima. The white nile perch and other similar smaller fish would be easy meal.

I don’t know too much about predatory fish, but I am in the process of learning. I was thinking, maybe if there were bigger fish like big Alligator Gars, or Arapaimas, maybe Big Bill would be a little bit more intimidated and not kill your other fish?
