I love being a skinny 72 yr old Beaver trapper. I drive up with my handicap parking thing on my mirror, and they don't know what to think. Got a fake knee, a bad knee, a bad hip and a slipped disk in my back, but I hit the ground running. Can't walk long distance trapping around the pond, so I trap from a canoe. I found that you catch more Beaver faster in the lake, than on shore anyway. And I have a cart I can drag 3 beaver to the truck at a time. I can clean out a colony in 7 days and get them ALL. Many trappers catch a few, then educate the rest of to be trap shy. I come in and clean up the mess they left behind. Seems Beaver Trappers here, learn from other trappers who can't catch beaver, so word of mouth keeps me pretty busy. Love to see their jaws drop when I pull up to do the job, and again when I finish the job in such a short time. So don't count us old farts out, we will surprise you.

Sounds like you definitely got it figured out. I've caught a few Beaver, but we ain't got a ton in our area. There are a few local trappers keep them pretty low in numbers. Coyotes though, they just keep coming🤣

Great video! Wish we could use snares here in Georgia (other than just for beaver) I do Nuisance Animal Control in and around Butts Co. Most of my coyote trapping is for farms with livestock (taken out 15 and 2 bobcats so far this year). Doing a beaver control job today in Newton Co. God Bless y'all and keep up the good work.

Should be legal for Coyotes in my opinion. It's one of the best means of predator control. They can be regulated to be safe and still be effective IMO. Mr Bill took 41 coyotes off our lease in less than 3 months!!!

Good video sir..I hunt Ashley County and I seem to get more coyotes on camera than deer. I plan to start trapping after deer season this winter

I'd highly recommend setting up to snare them. It's way cheaper and weather don't effect your sets. Just gotta go over the regulations. Holler at me closer to time and I'll give ya some tips if you don't have someone there local for good info

I’m just now getting into trapping I believe everything you’ve said too at the end of your video you made spot on points!! My generation (I’m 23) wants nothing to do with trapping but wants to go out and tag out on gobblers and whitetail every year but refuse to acknowledge that we are not the only ones living off the land! My only question is and I don’t mean to sound rude but what is the point in putting yotes in a crate live? Why not dispatch them on the snare? I knows he’s been doing this all his life and there’s a good reason behind it I just wanna know what it is haha

Jordan, thanks for your interest in trapping. I think it's vital to helping sustain wildlife populations in parts of the country. Past times, fur was a big industry in the United States. Fur bearers all across the US at one time brought big money in trade over seas. My Great Uncle was one of the biggest fur buyers in Louisiana years ago. When I was a kid in the 80s, my Dad taught me to trap Racoons. I got as much as $26 for a big boar coon hide. Bobcat and Fox were nearly triple that. With little or no price on fur and people loosing interest in trapping, predator populations soar. As sportsmen and women, it's our duty to help manage where when we can as laws allow. To answer your question, in certain states it's legal to trap coyotes for the purpose of live release in Dog hunting preserves called Fox pens. This is usually done under special regulations and by special permit holders. Always be sure to check your states laws on any type of trapping for you local regulations. Each state is different.

@@godscountryhuntingfishing1638 Wow!! I didn’t realize the fur prices have dropped that much that fast! Of course like you’ve said I’m really getting in it for predator control our public lands here in Tennessee are getting taken over by yotes and coons! But thank you for the info!!
@godscountryhuntingfishing16382 жыл бұрын
Yes coyotes and coons are way thicker than people think. Don't forget or underestimate the others. Fox and coyotes wreak havoc on Turkey, Rabbit, and quail. Skunk are also nest robbers. Coyote females are known to kill as many as 19 fawn's to feed their pups during fawning season. A lot of people your age don't understand the damages that our politicians do to our economy and how there decisions sometimes negatively effect wildlife habitat. I try not to mix politics into our content, but as Sportsmen and women we need to educate ourselfs on things effecting hunting and fishing and vote accordingly. My Brother lives just south of Nashville. You guys have a great state for wildlife up there, but he also has a lot of problems on his farm with predators getting his chickens. Our channel has less than 10% viewers within 5 years either way of your age. Very little interest in our way of life with the younger generations, and that's scary. Be sure to share our content with your younger friends for sure

Is there any reason to not just dispatch the coyotes in place vs. live loading them?
@godscountryhuntingfishing163811 ай бұрын
Depends on your wants and the state laws where your located. Several states allow permitted trappers to relocate them to Dog training or competition field trial pens, normally called fox pens. IMO this is favorable for Deer, Turkey, and Rabbit hunters and guys that like running dogs for Fox and Coyote. However I got no problem dispatching them. Their predators and wipe out Rabbit, Turkey, and deer

@godscountryhuntingfishing1638 Жыл бұрын
Mr Bill snared 3 months on our 3000 acre lease last year and caught 41 off it. So far this year in the first two weeks he's caught 6. His methods in our two videos are certainly legit. I'm able to answer any questions you have, or I'll tell you I don't know one. However, I'm able to find anything out from him. I've went with him quite a bit, so I'm aware what he's doing. I tried to show as much as possible in both videos on what to do. Snares are most effective if your legal to bait in your state. If not Dirt hole sets with 550s are pretty good

Same thing in northern MN with the wolves, there has to be a balance. I lost my mama cat and 2 coons to a young wolf one year. They all disapeared inside 48hrs. That being said theres nothing that sounds ss pretty in the woods at -30 than a pack talking back and forth in the still of night. When i was trapping we couldnt touch them, but now you can some years. God bless

Those wolves are worse than coyotes, but their all killing machines. I'd like to see our younger generation more interested in predator control. My hope in this video is that a few pick it up

That’s a lot of coyotes captured on only 3000 acres. Glad someone is doing a little bit to control them. I know I’ve seen a big decline in rabbit numbers and I’m sure it’s because of them. All critters have their part and role in Gods creation but they do have to be controlled. Except mosquitoes 🦟. Ain’t no dang reason or explanation for them. Keep up the good work y’all. Good stuff here.
@godscountryhuntingfishing16382 жыл бұрын
Coyotes eat all the same animals we like to eat. Thing is they do it for a living, so their better hunters than we are. They also stay at it 24-7. Coyotes do have there place in the fact they balance other animal populations, but they don't really have any enemies, other than us. If we as hunters take wildlife to feed our family, we should do more predator control in areas that are overpopulated. Our area was extremely overpopulated.

This guy gets big numbers of coyotes with bait piles with about 200 pounds of bait at a time. He uses power snares, but I found loaded snares work as good. I don't focus on coyote as much as beaver, because beaver taste better. But the trappers who put the numbers in the fur shed use bait piles. A one day best catch for him was 42 coyotes. So he has it down to a science. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmjXgZKlnbVgjLcsi=uXMj76WgsMM8-uSk

40 on 3K acres is a lot. Anyone who says killing coyotes doesn’t effect the deer population has never seen a pile of 40 dead coyotes. It absolutely effects the deer population. Coyotes hunt rabbits as a last resort, they will always try to eat the largest available animals first.
@godscountryhuntingfishing163811 ай бұрын
Totally agree. In the last 6 years over 125 coyotes have been taken off our property. Even taking 10-15 a year we didn't see a difference. Finally this year after taking 72 off it last two years we see a difference. More deer, fawns, turkey, rabbit, and quail. Another thing we've seen is Mature bucks are more comfortable on our property and this season was the best Buck season in the history of our club going back nearly 40 years. I'm not a Biologist, but I'm 45 years old, been fishing, hunting, and studying this stuff more than most people do since I was 3. In a world of Human population as we have now, I really hate seeing politics brought into wildlife management. With whats been done with the reintroduction of black bears, and now wolves in Colorado it really sickens me as a hunter, wildlife manager, and observer. Politics ruined the fur industry which controlled predators before the 90's. However, id be up for the development of a wolf that only eats pigs
