For all the shit the trolls give Danny, I really think he's become a better interviewer after doing more and more interviews. Simply because he gives the interviewees more opportunity to speak spontaneously. Don't be afraid to ask a question, get a short answer and then just be quiet and wait for the person you're interviewing to think for a while and then start elaborating more.

If the dude truly had a problem with killing for Uncle Sam. He could have quit at any time. Before the first kill, or after the first kill. He wasn't in an active combat role as inside enemy territory, on the ground and taking enemy fire. No normal person likes taking another mans life. War is hell. But it was the job he enlist to do. He could have chosen any job out there. But he enlisted with the intent of getting a college education. He knew very well that he could be sent anywhere in the world to fight. His wounds are psychological Every combat soldier has psychological pain. Many come back in pieces. Lets not dishonor those who gave all.

I am writing this 2 mins into the video so not basing this on this dude. I agree with the second half of your comment. I have known dudes that where in around 2002-2010 that never made E5. I know for 88Ms points were really high for a long time. Even with maxed out pt, weapon, awards, deployments and mil school points without civilian ed made it harder to promote. So they ended up just ETSing. Dudes with multiple deployments. I know 88Ms are not combat arms but some 88Ms have been in more TICs then some combat arms dudes. Some 8 year E4s are badasses. Not many but some.

Anytime you knowingly kill an innocent person just to get to the bad guy you're after, that's wrong. An accident is one thing, and there should be accountability for dropping bombs on a place and accidentally killing someone that shouldn't have been killed, but if they're doing it knowingly, that's murder, and they need to be stopped and held accountable. this is completely foreign to me. i listened to this podcast hoping to learn something about military service, drones, procedure etc. it’s hard to do so when hes constantly contradicting himself. his whole squad was full of dumbasses but never stopped to think why he’s there? his supervisor told him to write his discrepancy in an email so they could have something in writing, but he took it as everyone telling him to stfu. he said he points the camera and tells the pilot where to shoot, then says they forced him to kill innocent people? he talks too much about emotion. how things made him feel. he cries himself to sleep and does a whole lot of complaining. like wtf did you think you were signing up for? granted we should have never been in afghanistan. nobody forced him to join.

This guest is very empathetic, courageous, educated, and deep; as is most demonstrated at the very end of the video. That last piece that he read, I’m assuming he wrote himself, and it was very profound and truthful. He quotes from a plethora of various cultural and religious dogmas, showing clearly that he has done A LOT of reading and adopted truths from many ancient texts and viewpoints and put them all together for himself in a very personal and concise way. There’s a lot of information and poetry in what he said, and it’s put together in a vary interesting way that is the exact opposite of rambling or incoherence. There’s a very poetic and natural flow to it that was very moving to me. Personally, I often tend to ramble or jump around on tangents and whatnot, but this man has a gift for speaking truth and understanding, and it was very beautiful what he said at the very end. If you can’t find yourself willing or able to watch the entire video, skip to the very end and rewind bit by bit until you get to the beginning of this last part. It’s truly amazing!!! Kudos and best of luck to this man and his many struggles.

With a conventional missile or cruise missile, you can’t preview the target and you can’t call it off. Seems worse. If civilians wander into a kill zone after a conventional munition is fired, they get injured or die. I think the issue may be more about witnessing the destruction you just had a hand in, or being privy to hearing decisions be made about acceptable “collateral damage”, which I get.

While I tend to agree, it's definitely a moral conundrum. Moreso, when we consider that taking out 13 (presumed) innocents to eliminate 2 high-value targets could potentially save thousands of innocent lives down the line. Mathematically it makes sense, but the moral question remains. No matter which way you slice it, war is an ugly business.

Not necessarily. People have families that may not be involved with, or have no idea what that target person was actually doing. As for the kids, I look at it like this; when I was a kid I absolutely loved my Dad. I wanted to be just like him. Do those kids want to be just like their terrorist fathers also? Do they even have a choice? Also how many kids might have died if they bombed a busy area? It's tough but those guys know the risks of being involved in that stuff, to them and also their families. I only hope they are certain the targets aren't just assumed to be terrorists.

I truly just don’t think he was meant to kill in any capacity, he has a different spirit than a warrior spirit. I know it would be horrible to see the death of someone innocent and being the cause of it, but I don’t think he had the attitude for it regardless, I can tell by his voice that he maybe wasn’t meant for the military. I am an Iraqi from Mosul, I fully support drone strikes, but I do not support releasing consent on a target that isn’t completely identifiable. I know of many Christian families who have died, families that had already be threatened or had family members skinned alive or sold into slavery, and yet they were killed because someone thought they were bad guys. I can see how someone who didn’t experience the chronic terrorism on the ground to have so much remorse, they didn’t have to hear the screams of young girls being dragged alive behind a truck, or witness gross and disgusting actions against women in front of their husbands and parents before they are killed. This is what happened every day in Mosul when IS took over. If a drone strike would have prevented innocent Christians and Shia Muslims being brutally tortured, enslaved and killed, I would honestly take the risk of my life from a drone strike if it meant that there would be more saved from such evil. Some of us would have rather died by that than ever have to deal with what would happen to us if we were captured by IS. I know people who never leave the walls of their house because of trauma of hearing and seeing what IS did. Its worse than death.

@@BtmOper22 I appreciate you very much, I also support military troops and veterans. My family happened to have been helped by veterans who worked with a Christian organization that included volunteer doctors and combat veterans from a church in Florida. They saved many christian and muslim families and helped build a refugee camp when Nato camps would deny or be too filled in Syria. They provides food, medical treatment security and transportation for us. That being said, I would have no remorse. One of my brothers friends girl friends were brutally murdered and they gave him a CD of it. She was mutilated with a wire brush and they took a metal bar and hit her on the head as hard as they could. Sending her into an immediate seizure and foaming from her mouth. She was extremely beautiful and nice. If I had anyone around me who even slightly supports such acts, I’d skin them alive with a wire brush myself. I wouldn’t even care if they were. I am also a Christian as Mosul had a huge Christian population which is why IS was so brutal against them, its in their stupid Hadiths and Qurans to wage jihad against non believers. I’m sure if the man in the video knew things like this, he wouldn’t feel as much remorse. If my husband took out the entire family of an IS member, I wouldn’t at all fault him. And I can totally understand how military members see and hear of such things and just go on a rampage. I understand. But if the savages of Is aren’t met with even worse treatment, they will not be phased. This is why I support Americans and Syrian governments torture programs, even if it wasn’t that affective, they deserved it, and people who think water boarding is inhumane treatment, they can kick rocks. Waterboarding is nothing, and I can’t stand people who think Americans trying to save people from terrorist should be sent to jail for waterboarding or of the other torture techniques that were used. Because all of it is nothing compared to what happens to innocent people who don’t deserve it at all.

First of all, this is one of my favorite podcasts, for many reasons, but especially because of people like, Brandon Bryant, a real, true American hero in my eyes, for speaking his experiences, exposing the Truth, much Respect... Having said that, The tendency of pretending that any war is a defensive one shows two things. First of all is that the majority of people, at least in civilized countries, cannot be made to kill or be made to die unless they are first convinced that they are doing so in order to defend their lives and freedom; second, it shows that it is not difficult to persuade millions of people that they are in danger of being attacked, and hence, that they are called upon to defend themselves. Such persuasion depends most of all on a lack of independent thinking and feeling, and on emotional dependence of the vast majority of people or their political and or religious leaders. The middle east seems to be a Thunder-dome where people/children go and fight and DIE, For What? The whims of corrupt politicians and their political agenda? College tuition? What? And don't tell me, "Our Freedoms" or "Fight against terrorism" I mean, "How can you have a war on terrorism, when war itself is terrorism?" And try and understand that criticizing or detouring those people who sign up or would sign up, to die, to Serve the whims of those corrupt politicians, is Not an insult to those who have died, in which I Respect with the utmost, but serves as a Warning to the Living, Not to Blindly obey corrupt politicians. I feel that the Best way we can honor our fallen soldiers, is to STOP creating so Many of them... The military and the machine of war it produces and forces upon the world is Disgustingly Evil, and it has gotten away with so much because of Patriotism of the American Empire... That's what the Rich evoke and call to when it's time for the poor to bear the burden and Die for profits. WAKE UP AMERICA!!! Your government is corrupt, governments are Not for the people, Police do Not protect you, School does Not to educate you, Your banks are holding you as collateral, Your military is used to terrorize the world, did you know that the US defense spending is some $700 Billion dollars, which is more than the next 12 nations combined? We live in a country that creates it's own $, yet still can't afford to feed the homeless or fund medical or Education...🤔🤨 Your media keeps you distracted with mindless celebrity bullshit, your wars are about resources and financial control, you have more in common with the people you're bombing than the Billionaire's that are ruling you... Nothing in this world operates the way you think it does. Privately Owned Banks (Federal Reserve, is No more Federal than Federal express) loan fiat $, The entire structure of civilization in the western world is a combination of Brilliantly Conceived and Well-Planned Schemes to direct the minds of the people to serve their perceived overlords. This Madness has to End. I am a humanist and I will Always be Antiwar.

I'm sorry but someone needs to get this guy help. He's either all sketched out on Adderall or he's seriously mentally ill. It's terrible to hear and see this we need to help our veterans regardless of how you feel about him. Clearly he was highly effected by seeing the things he's saw. Please someone close to him get him help asap before he hurts someone or himself.

Especially toward the end I get the feeling his abi has created some serious issues for this poor guy. The stories of fire and attempted murders are just... off... No evidence, just allegations. Why go after people advocating for him and not just shut him up. The interviewer did a good job of trying to challenge him on it and get evidence from him but there was none forthcoming other than 'I worked with these people and I know what they did...' It's sad

I really feel for this guy. He's had such conflict in his life for so long but I can see that his PTSD and the fact that it seems he's a "Targeted Individual" which many believe is a conspiracy theory but I think for him it's true. He knows and has pulled the trigger on many a "Bad Guy" as a drone operator - he's studied scripture his whole life and his grandfather sounded like one hell of a guy. I think him and Duncan Trussel would make a good podcast together as Duncan is super into the Bhagavad Gita and Buddhism as a whole. Great podcast and I truly hope that this man can find peace in his struggle.

They were fighting embedded insurgents in the Iraqi police and the state department purposefully edited out Drone footage to get a guilty verdict for diplomatic reasons.

The only difference between a drone and a fast jet is the drone operator is thousands of miles away from danger. Fighter pilots and Apache pilots were operating over the desert and dropping bombs and getting the blokes out of the shit on a daily basis. I don’t agree with bombing a wedding party to take out one person, but let’s not pretend that anything is new here. He’s right what he says though about the guys that don’t have the physical ability to go out on the ground and face the enemy face to face doing this job. It’s naturally these kind of people that will struggle with the killing involved. I hope he finds peace.
