does this help get rid of the wed dog smell out of coyotes ? i wash them twice but they still have that stank.
@heartlandtrapping31944 жыл бұрын
judith davis if you wash your coyotes in a 5 gallon bucket with a half a cap full of Woollite that will fix that coyote stank before fleshing, then borax after it comes off strecher

At what point are you doing this step? I have a hard time piecing together from all the online vids since I tan my hides at home but it seems like most trappers stop at stretching them? I I don't quite understand how they are okay without being salted, does the borax act as salt? Hope my questions make sense. :)

Well the borax on the hide side can act some what as salt, but I’ve only salted deer hides myself. If you flesh and stretch pelts they will dry no salt or borax needed and be good for a couple years but will start to break down if not tanned. I just borax my predators fur side because it helps clean the fur, it doesn’t have anything to do with preservation.

@@heartlandtrapping3194 Oh wow, thank you! I thought you had to salt them right away or else hair would slip. So much to learn. :) Thank you for the response and for your great videos.

I’m trying to taxidermy my fish without gutting it. Is there a way to dry it out without gutting it?
@heartlandtrapping31942 жыл бұрын

Those are some narrow bellied poor quality Cats. Tumbling furs is nothing new.
@heartlandtrapping31949 ай бұрын
There was no tumbling at all in this video, so I’m not sure what your talking about. I live in Missouri not Nevada, for our section of the country we have an excellent cat, and are paid extremely well for them.

@@heartlandtrapping3194 What's the highest average price you have ever gotten for Cats? A old clothes dryer works good for tumbling and cleaning fur. They make a commercial medium for cleaning fur, it's made from corn cobs and a mild solvent, does a nice job, and cheap. Where are you trapping at?
@robertmclean97379 ай бұрын
I'm used to WY Cats, you are doing the same thing as tumbling cleaning your furs with borax, tumbling is just easier with better results. Remove the heating element if you use a clothes dryer. Good luck!!
