Just get more peacocks and make the pen more secure for them ❤️❤️❤️❤️

From what I have seen on other your tube channels, if you pen your birds up for a few days or a week they will know that at home. Then you can open the door and they will go back at night except maybe a stubborn rooster once in awhile.

Keep the tree coop. Close the doors and have a small chicken coop door on the side, maybe an automatic on a timer. Have them inside a few days, and they will see it ass home. Will be great 👍❤

That tree coop is gorgeous and so creative. I think you should absolutely try to use it and train chickens to roost at night. I wish you could / would get peacocks again.

I think if you have a food bowl in the coop and only feed them in the evenings. That would encourage them to go in the coop at night. Eventually they learn that’s were to go at night. I think the tree house is so cool I would not tear it down.

Try to put the really cool house on the ground.

2 things you should do (imo) to bring your peafowl back (or any animals). 1 - Add a Premier 1 netted fence around the outside with a charger. Raccoons don't like to climb flimsy things so if you put one around the outside of the pen/run with a charger to give them a little shock it will discourage the raccoons from trying to climb over the fence. 2 - Cut down surrounding trees outside the electric netted area that cross branches with trees inside the netted area or the raccoons can/will climb from one tree to another and climb down inside. a couple more ideas for chickens 3 - Build out the floor another foot or two around the side of the coop and install an auto-door. 4 - put the log ladder inside the coop instead for them to roost on (cut it in half or 1/3 if it's too big and then you have 1-2 for another coop or 2) and put on a more traditional chicken ramp up the side of the coop where the auto-door is. Convenience idea 5 - build in some nesting boxes around the back of the coop so it's easy for you to just stand and reach in to grab the eggs instead of having to climb up and inside the coop every day. Anyway, those are just a few thoughts on what I'd do. Hope it helps.

If it were me I would add a automatic chicken door to the tree house, Lock the chickens you put in there inside for a few days until they understand it is their roost and maybe change the really cool ladder to a more chicken friendly ramp system.

Why don't you keep the glass doors shut and get a coop door with a timer like Adler Farms has and change out the ladder so they can't roost on it. Maybe put in a window for ventilation with hardware cloth instead of screen. Staple at an angle hardware cloth around the deck area to keep then from roosting there except where the auto door would be. Hugs

It’s a beautiful coop and worth a try I think. What about a longer ramp to make going in and out not so challenging? Have you figured out how to keep the predators out? You would need to build nesting boxes in it as well.

In the livestock keeping world there probably isn't room for "too cool to tear down." However, there has to be a way to defeat the racoons. A hoop structure with the roofing material suspended below the hoops instead of above. Hoops that are double layered with free spinning sections, preventing racoons getting purchase on the hoops to traverse. Something...I'm just spitballing🤫👍

Gotta love those emus with the spikey hair!! They just make my heart happy - they are such a strange shape, yet it's just perfect!

The emus are by far the strangest animal to interact with. They're so inquisitive and big!

The chickens will roost in there as long as you have something for them to roost on. Put the food and water in side the building for a few days so they have to go in.

John all you have to do is put a roof on top to keep other animals out . Use rabbit wire. Then you can have your peacocks. Yes chickens would go in to coop. Put a small chicken door on it. So the big doors can be closed. You could have done the same thing with the peacocks they fit in the chicken doors . Witch ever birds you put in there use chicken door and lock them in for two weeks before letting them out that way they know where their safe place is

Leave it as is, Jason & Brooke at cog hill have an old trailer they use as a coop and the chooks go in at night. They did leave them inside a week or 2 though.

Such a cool tree house I would hate to see it come down… from a non-farmer… I would think more on how to get those birds back… gotta be a way… I would hope🙄 no rush right?!?!?

I have had chicken houses inside chicken runs before and they quickly learn to go inside the house. If you move them at night and feed them inside the house, they will learn where the food is and within a couple of days they will start roosting in the house. I would lock them up for a couple of days with food and water inside the house. Chickens are smart and will learn quickly.

Why not use a goose as a "guardian". She would do a great job and you wouldn't need to demolish your cute cabin.

Could you raise the peachicks inside the tree house so they identify it as home and then when they're grown close them in there at night? We did that with guineas. They wandered the property all day but roosted in the barn where they were raised at night.

I loved that pen. Sadly I’m not sure with the chickens as I’ve never had them so don’t know much about them John. But I hope someone can give you some great advice. I do agree that the peacocks were great. I do miss them.

From what you said, I cannot give a reason for you to give up on raising pea fowl. You should be able to prevent raccoons from future visits, even if it meant moving the emus to the other side of the tree house pen. If you want pea fowl - get them! 🦚 As for chickens, there is no reason that the pen wouldn’t be able to make a good home for them. A few alterations might be needed (adding nesting boxes to tree house, lowering the roosting bar in tree house), and you might consider making the staircase more ramp-like (solid bottom, narrower width). Leaving the chichens in the tree house for a week or two with food and water, will definitely establish that as HOME for original occupants. 🐓 Either way, I sure hope you find new occupants soon.
