After seeing the USA today I’m more confident than before, Hutson and the other D man showed that they can hang with the top pair and limit the drop off. Faced some adversity early on and handled it by going on a 7-2 goal run the next 1/2 of that game, and the top line is absolutely filthy
@USALLTHEWAYКүн бұрын
The adversity was good to have to test them. The bottom 6 forwards and bottom 4 D man looked better than people gave credit, if they keep it up they will remain the most dangerous team

Will certainly be interesting to see how it goes for the US, they’re a team that had a lot of self inflicted problems today and I’m not sure if they’re prepared to fight that, look out for when they play Finland, might be an upset 👀

@@onthefly1515 Canada had just as many and were fortunate that George played his best game of his life, and I’m a Kings fan he’s going to be a solid goalie but that was not expected at all. USA toyed with Finland pre tournament while it’ll be closer it will still be a comfortable win

As a Swede I believe yet again we have a big chance but we are Sweden and we are gold medalist at losing a gold medal game so that sounds about right this year. Canada beats Sweden in the gold medal game 4-3
@JM-gj7de3 күн бұрын
I've never understood the Swedes at this tournament. All the talent in the world but just can't close the deal. It's baffling to me. Is it the coaching? The system? A confidence problem? Idk...
@Petersson-yo7yn3 күн бұрын
@@JM-gj7de I think it is the nerves, I know Canada LOVES hockey and especially the world juniors but I cannot state how much pressure Swedish media and tv and giving these young kids going in to the tournament. So many Swedes watch the tournament and I believe that it was causing the kids to be THAT nervous as we saw on home ice last year where we lost yet again in the gold medal game
@JM-gj7de2 күн бұрын
@@Petersson-yo7yn Wow, that's really interesting. I had no idea the media was giving these kids so much pressure. That's not healthy for teenagers, I suppose. You've made me realize that perhaps the lack of pressure is what helps USA in this tournament. I can tell you that 99% of Americans don't even know that this tournament exists. Basically, only the parents of the players and a few knowledgeable fans are aware of it. Almost nobody cares. Furthermore, USA is playing nearly every tournament in Canada...where all the fans hate them and cheer against them in every single game they play. The constant booing and negative energy from Canadian fans develops an internal cohesion and a 'F-you' attitude amongst the American players. They play angry and want to shut the crowd up. It's not completely transferable, but perhaps the Swede's need to develop an 'us against the world' type of mentality, too. Swedes are typically slow to anger but can get pretty crazy when they are. Swedes need to harness that anger somehow, I think. Sweden has the talent. It just needs to make a breakthrough mentally.

The predictions come from a lot of research on the various teams and seeing them in action during the pre-tournament games! At the end of the day you can’t predict the entire tournament but in my eyes it should follow something similar to this!

How popular is the WJC in other countries? I mean in Sweden I feel like it’s huge and maybe the most popular international tournament.
@kettusport2 күн бұрын
In Finland it is a very big thing even though the games start / finish at midnight, would say that it is at a very close level to the World Championship in May. Some of Finland's games in recent years have reached hundreds of thousands of viewers, probably the most notable was the 2021 quarterfinal win which brought in 1,2 million and finished around 01.00 in the morning.
@onthefly15152 күн бұрын
@calle9368 I know for the majority of countries, the WJC ranks in the top 3 International tournaments, either Second behind the Olympics or Third behind the World Championships! It’s the tradition of sitting around the TV cheering for your country to me that makes this tournament so successful!

@@onthefly1515 Thanks for the answer and it is for sure is a tradition. Last year in the QF close to 3 million watched Sweden’s game, almost 1/3rd of the country which is insane. Maybe that’s a reason why Sweden always loses the final, too much pressure?

After today I have to say that I'm significantly more confident than just a few days ago, lots of hockey to be played but after today I think this might just be their year!
@JM-gj7de3 күн бұрын
Exactly the same final result as I'm predicting, although my group standings were a bit different. I'm a USA fan, but our forward group is not nearly as deep as last year's team. USA had three equally talented scoring lines. This year, they have one top line with the rest being decent/good. If Canada can shut down the Boston College line, they'll win comfortably I think. USA's defense is also far less dynamic this year. No Lane Hutson or Seamus Casey going coast-to-coast. Buium is a superb two-way defender but doesn't razzle dazzle like the aforementioned guys did. I'm not betting against a pissed off Team Canada playing at home. Hope I'm wrong. We'll see.
@onthefly15152 күн бұрын
I’m thinking that as well which is why I took Canada to win in the Semis. I think Canada loses their first matchup with the US because they don’t know how to defend that top line but in the semis I’m expecting a shut down effort by the strong Canadian backend!
@JM-gj7de2 күн бұрын
@@onthefly1515 Fair and logical assessment. I think USA will lose the group game, too though. I really like Canada's roster this year. Very balanced. Although, I'm quite shocked at the big names that were left off. It's either going to work like a charm or fail spectacularly. Gonna be a fun tourney. Cheers!

@@JM-gj7de It's very possible! In my eyes the NYE game is a tossup with the playoffs slightly leaning Canada. Will be interesting to see if Sweden is able to beat either of them come playoff time with no real similar matchup until then.

I certainly hope you’re right! I think any of the “big 3” take this one but I’m sticking with Canada especially with them being on home ice, I think that little bit of boost, combined with last year’s disappointment, puts them just that much ahead of the other 2 powerhouses. Time will tell!
