If we get news for Z-A maybe by Sep 15/20, I could see a March/April 2025 release. However, the very stark difference between PLA and Z-A right now is that when PLA was first announced, there was actually gameplay footage shown, whereas Z-A had none of that. Edit: May 30, 2025 is a Friday. With Gen 10's hype cycle, I've had an idea that we could get 100 new species and then 51 new regionals as a small reference to Gen 1. However, if we had a SM style hype cycle, it would have less of an impact on the percent of new mons revealed as there would be more significantly more new mons compared to base SM, as that only gave us less then 100 new mons (counting both new species and regionals).

7:46 Oh my gosh Dusty I’m so glad you had the same line of thinking. Japan and California are both part of The Ring of Fire. The fault and volcanic line that surrounds the Pacific Ocean. California is just right across the ocean from Japan. And (as much as some may find it annoying) California is a very big and important state. A couple of the biggest cities in the country, San Francisco with the very recognizable Golden Gate Bridge and Las Angeles with Hollywood where the biggest movies are made. In Anaheim is Disneyland, which Pokemon could definitely do their own spin on. And I feel like we’re due for a new US region. A state like California feels like it could be very fitting for Generation 10.

Closest Californian airport to Hawaii is SFO, even though Alaska is closer. Flight path traffic would route it so California would usually end up faster from SFO airport at 5 hours 20 minutes. VS 6 hours + change from Anchorage. I would love California in general would have ice/grass types by Tahoe, steel/poison types by the big cities, fire/ground types in death valley (hottest place in continental US, - hotter than Arizona, but it's a dry heat. ;D). I don't know where I'd put dragon + fairy types and I live here.

I think something about VGC you guys didnt think of (unless I missed it) was that sometimes theres a format where they ban the gimmick. I feel like they might have banned z-moves at some point and I think some time in 2021/2022, they banned Dynamax for a season. They could do that with SV before doing the 2 restricted format for VGC 2026. I think we get Legends Z-A in the summer 2025 with a small DLC in winter or we get another release, it wont be gen 10 but since 2024 was just Pecharunt and a mobile game most people don't care about, I think there will be more in 2025 and gen 10 hype cycle in 2026+DLC in 2027. As a competitive player, I can say that people will get burned out very soon from SV. I play draft format and I remember a lot of 2022 people made a side Pokemon Showdown server that added the mons from PLA to spice things up until gen 9. Regarding PLZA: I bet we get something by or during December with starters and maybe a regional form.

Why is there still the blacked out spot on the north-eastern area of the Paldea map??? Plus there is still the gold/yellow sparkle that is unaccounted for on the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero logo? I fully relate to Dusty having lost faith in Khu. If Khu knows the starters for PLZA, why don’t they make a riddle in the meantime? Or they’ll do so closer to the trailer release? I think gen 10 will most likely be Italy or another Japan region going back where it all started for the 30 Anniversary but if we do get a new US region definitely want it to be Alaska.

So here’s my two cents on pocket I think it’s gonna be great but I really don’t think it’s gonna be competitive because it’s a completely diffrent format from the standard TCG so unless they add a completely separate division for TCG pocket I really don’t think it’s plausible for it to be at worlds

What??? Bro what??? Idk about worlds 2026 being a gen 9 vgc. Now that is a huge stretch and I agree with Dusty I feel gen 10 will be announced for next year. Also Tera is the best thing to happen to competitive and I like megas but I kinda wish they were not back unless you can do both like in the finals with ash vs Leon where you can choose your gimmick. Also I think ZA will have the pokeballs Roy was testing out on horizons

Here I am late again, but listening to this podcast again it made me think about what a huge mistake It would be to continue with Scarlet and Violet for the next two years. UNLESS unless unless they re-release Scarlet and Violet with the switch 2. Or at least they announce upscaling for the switch 2 and PLZA mons coming to S/V. Seeing how Legends Arceus was a one playthrough and done, for most people, I don’t think PLZA would be enough to hold people over for another 1-2 years while we wait for Gen 10.

I hope pokemon just blindsided us with a ZA trailer randomly on some Tuesday at like 10 am 😂 They then do an add on of switch ports of Black and White to sell for the holidays. Because people wouldn't need to pre-order them 😂 give out an exclusive code with the purchase for Pokémon Pocket to get the N trainer card. Tying the two together. Giving the switch another possible 6 months to a year of life before they release the switch 2 (port and Zaza) Then BAM. Gen 10 release on Switch 2. 😅😊❤😂

What if gen 10 was released in LATE 2025, and ZA in May 2026? W/ a 3rd game releasing in like Nov 2026. You could theoretically switch gen 10 release dates for the 3rd game, but I think that's what may be happening. There were 3 games originally released for Pokemon. R&B in 1998 and 1999 PY. I think they could be trying to mimic that same hype from back in the day. While I know R&B came out at the same time, i think ZA and G10 are the the Red and Blue of this time, w/ the 3rd being tied to G10 or ZA, or maybe combining the two games, idk. there is no reason to hire as many people as they did just for 1 or 2 games, and we know they already have two team who work on two separate games one for not and one for later. so to expand your team to be even bigger than it is for 3 games would make more sense. And to hire people w/ such specific qualifications (like 3 years exp) tells me that they are making sure those who take on these projects know what they are doing. w/ continued listening, you could switch ZA and gen 10 release dates. in regards to 'bringing people back t work on the games' they more than likely have made everything for the games, so the teams that they have for it just sits there releasing things. So they probably have a one last pre made Pokemon, for the game, maybe.

Gah, I’m sorry to be that guy, but ports just don’t make sense. I may be alone here but I feel that playing older games feels very clunky and the quality of life difference is huge from older games to current. I think ports may be fun for like 2 weeks and then people will get bored. Wouldn’t it make sense for GameFreak to invest resources in new IP and new Pokemon games that push the brand forward? I don’t know, I know Dusty loves ports but it just feels like a niche market. Also, I agree with Soul on Pocket. Would be curious to poll how competitive TCG players feel about pocket…does it enrich the game? Bastardize it? Distract from it?
