Like us or loathe us (and there are plenty in both camps) we have lived 4 years now offgrid in our motorhome after losing our home during the pandemic. Going into our 60's it was a bit daunting but boy have we had to learn survival skills of all kind. We keep on the move in winter and earn extra £s in the summer on a campsite. We have learned how to power our phones and computers off grid, how to get water and purify it necessary. We have learned how to live with less and how to be content. Sure its not everyones cup of tea and we thought after the pandemic normal service would resume, a job would be forth coming and a house would follow. But no siree. So here we are rocking it and appreciating what we got. Ok so I see the powers that be will try to stop us travelling one way or the other but they will have to house us if they do. But we still are ahead of the game in terms of survival!

You're good with the cards, and you're definitely on the right track here. Continue to explore this and I believe you may find more answers and ideas, to share if you feel it's the right thing to do. People need to be better at sharing their ideas and knowledge, both in their own neighborhood and across borders, and we all have our own different talents and gifts to share.

Polycarbonate greenhouses retain far more heat for growing throughout the winter, lettuce and cauliflowers can be grown all year round and in containers but cauli’s like plenty of fertilizer so if anyone has horse where you live be polite and ask the owners for some manure as the majority will happily oblige in giving you some and you can be nice by giving them some produce you grow.
@elisabethnewtonКүн бұрын
Would cow manure also work?
@14caz68Күн бұрын
The manure needs to ‘mature’ at least 6-12 months and lose the acids. Or you’ll spoil your growing produce.

£22billion black hole food shortage :)
@karenphillips209220 сағат бұрын
I don't know why but last year my gut instinct was 'I need to grow my own food'.... At the time I had no idea why I felt this urge 🤷🏼♀️ so I've been sourcing pallet collars, (make great planters), & levelling garden etc, on a small budget so can only do abut at a time but been saving for a small greenhouse, been composting & hope to start planting next year. I have no idea what I'm doing 😂..... Oh & waterbutts, so the basics are coming I just hope I can get it all done in time.... Never thought about seeds going so will be heading garden centre, anyone recommend a good, step by step guide to off grid living, for a terraced house garden... 🙏

Ive feeling and seeing food shortages on an esoteric level for a few years now! To that end, I've got over a years worth of supplies. To the none believer i have to explain this on an economic level. The Western currencies with go down in 2025. Then country's will not be able to ship and trade with each other! We will have to depend on our iwn produce! And sadly there will be riots in the city's and it will be a bloodbath! Please do not know true hunger! If you can stock up or move to the countryside and have farms on your doorstep ❤

@GreatestGoodTarot I moved from the South of England last year to a beautiful farmsted (with an additional 6 acres) on the Scottish Borders overlooking the North Sea! Loving life, been planting fruit trees and have pigs now. I'm planning to do a community veg patch on my land, however its probably best I get on with it myself (I can depend on me) and help out when I can ?

Hi Carol. Realistically in this country, because of the weather, all you'll need is a small greenhouse or seed tent, rather than a garden as such. Perfect for growing easy stuff like tomatoes, peppers, corgettes and lettuce etc and a grow bag for potatoes. Connect a small waterbutt to a drainpipe for free water. Hope this helps. We have a small lean-to greenhouse that we use for growing veg.

I’m sort of in the country but I live in a terrace with quite a small garden. I’ve got a green house and lots of raised beds and troughs. I grew so much this year. Pickled beets, peppers, onions. Chutneys and I dried out a lot of tomato’s and froze them. It can be done.
