Some great perspectives here. We are definitely in the early stages of the Gartner Curve here - maybe Level 2 at best. We have just been given some data tools that have great potential, but many faculty are understandably and perhaps justifiably afraid that the data could be mis-used in the way Loralyn talks about here (seeing students as on the road to failure vs. at-risk). Her comments were spot on regarding different department cultures and definitions of "success" were also spot on.
