Without knowing I had hEDS, I unexpectedly got pregnant with my daughter at 19 (had her at 20) and it was a rough pregnancy. She kept trying to come early and I was on bed rest a lot. She came anyway at 36 weeks at 6 lbs 12 oz. This was 17 years ago. And my husband and I are considering having a baby now. It can be done ladies, it’s just rough. I threw up every single day throughout my entire pregnancy too. But this was also back in 2004 and they didn’t treat 19 year olds very kindly when pregnant back then either so I didn’t get the best of care.

Update! I’m 31 weeks pregnant with a very healthy baby girl! I had a cervical cerclage placed at 13 weeks and everything there is great! The only issue I’ve had recently is I’m having problems with my hips/pelvis. I was diagnosed very recently with Pelvic Girdle Pain. Also, my hips keep dislocating ever since she “dropped”. I was hospitalized recently because of my hips that also set off irritation of my uterus since it’s all connected. I’m on modified bed rest and have to use a walker to get around now. But, I’m almost done!! Funny enough, my hips dislocated and all this happened literally the day after our baby shower!!😆 Welcoming baby Alessandra Nicolette on Halloween 🎃!!

@@At_least_im_not_a_Karen how exciting! Definitely update. How had your pregnancy been going other than POTS symptoms?

@@dnagoddesshealings2212 I’d like to say good but I went through different stages of feeling like crap. Overall I found out my pregnancy shouldn’t be high risk and everything has been going good towards my sons growth. Eds has just made it hell some days. So for my symptoms I started out having what I thought was just a flare. I didn’t know I was pregnant at the time. My joints and back and hips were so loose and painful that I couldn’t stand or walk or even sit for more than a minute or two at a time and I eventually had to stop working. I found out shortly after quitting work about being pregnant. I was nauseous 24/7 for like 9 weeks straight but luckily it hasn’t returned. My wrists eventually started dislocating daily and my hips got a little better but I would still wake up daily with one or both out of place. I’m about 2-3 weeks away from delivery and as of now, my body is a lot more stiff so I don’t have as much issues with subluxations as easy as before. I still have them but it’s not as often or as bad. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had days or moments of a lot of pain especially when I can’t get my hips back in and I had walked on them while they were out but it usually would be me hurting like hell for 2 days and on the third I’d be a bit better. I had to get around using my cane but overall health of the baby has been good. Now that I’m almost done with being pregnant, I noticed I have more energy and less pain than the first two trimesters and I can get more done but can’t let myself over do it or I will regret it lol

Mine too. I'm 26 weeks now and I'm just constantly in pain (even more than normal for me). And the POTS/MVP are AWFUL

I've got suspected classical EDS. I had a silent miscarriage at 8 weeks & trying to conceive again. I'm worried I won't be able to carry to term, worried about preterm labor, worried about incompetent cervix or fragile connective tissue. I'm worried about it all but still have this need to be a mother. I'm hoping for some support but my local hospital didn't understand EDS risks.

Hey, I've kyphoscoliosis ehlers danlos type 6A. I also went blind in one eye 5 years ago and was told I could be totally blind in time. I'm 38 currently and have wanted to build a family for years but I'm so scared of dying in childbirth or pregnancy taking the last of my eyesight away so I can't see my kids grow. Would people advise for or against pregnancy with PGD and IVF in a 38 year old woman?

Hey, thanks but I tried to get info years ago about this rare eds type and many of my questions are still unanswered. I was hoping there is someone alive, somewhere in the world, with eds kyphoscoliosis type 6A who is also going blind that could give me some hard facts if it works out or not.

You probably need to talk to a well educated doctor. I saw your same comment on other Eds Pregnancy posts. Best of luck!
