The beauty of animals is their instincts when having babies. They need no one to help them, in most cases, and puppy instincts are even more beautiful to watch. I’m always amazed when they find mommy’s nipples to nurse on.

I wish they wouldn't have intervened that much. I think the mom would've done it herself. And taking the babies to see the gender is just useless, they could've done that a little after. Waitimg for the mom to finish cleaning

This is only an 18 minute video over the course of about 10 hours! I clipped SO much, we only helped at the very beginning of the babies being born, to clear their airways & no harm was done in doing so. As soon as that was done, we let mom finish cleaning the baby and let each baby nurse. Lucy is a young dog, and this is her first litter, we only assisted to make things easier on her and make sure that every puppy could breathe

@@lauradelrio6224 A lot of the time when its their first litter, these "motherly instincts" don't always kick in quite as quickly because its so unfamiliar to them! I had to assist quite a bit with the first few of my girls litter because she was confused what was happening and what she was doing [She was 3 years old]. The younger the dog the more likely they are to need assistance. Taking genders helps keep track of each puppy incase markings are missed/confused and allows you to better keep an eye on anyone who may have hard a harder time through the birthing process. Examples being they had breathed in too much fluid, they were smaller in weight etc. this doesn't hurt the puppy, or the mom with bonding at all. [It definitely shows how much she trusts the person helping!]

had 4 puppies last year, my runt was born last, 5 HOURS after her siblings, shes half their size, and shes the MOST FEISTY, MOST SPUNKY OF ALL! We adore her and named her Claire after the Outlander character! Congrats on the healthy babies!

Aww, ive seen a few dogs give birth before, and i got to know the pups a bit sometimes, and my favorites have almost ALWAYS been the runts, and they are always the most feisty and spunky out of the rest of the litter and most of the time they are girls, as far as the ones ive seen! i prefer smaller things in general. like all three of my favorite animals are small animals, and my dog was the runt of her litter, and she was SOOOOOO tiny, and still is, like. if you'd seen her with her siblings. you'd think she was from a different litter. born about a week after her siblings, she is a german shepherd pit bull mix, and both her parents were the average german shepherd size, and she's at her full size now, and she is a bit smaller then LUCY! and we have three other dogs that are similar breeds to her. and are way bigger then her!!.. Oh. Wow, this is a long comment.. i tend to get a bit carried away when I'm talking/writing
