What's your favourite rotator cuff movement?

Tom Merrick not necessarily directly rotator cuff but I find wall angels great for overall shoulder/upper back mobility!

Truly love the ring face pull because it can be loaded virtually infinitely and will help get a mind muscle connection with the rotator cuff more than any other exercise (that I've tried)

I like these kind of videos. Love it that you gave impatient people the time code to jump ahead. Fools not to understand the details. Good job on giving them a choice. It is always good business to give people choices. They need to feel confortable. Hope all is going good with your coaching. Great job as always.

Great video! Love your structured approach, including mentioning your sources and the table of content like stuff. I save the link to videos and use them later as reference when I am actually doing the excercises. In this way I find the description of the excercise easy and do not have to repeat the theory. But don't get me wrong: I really like your explanations of the why of an excercise. Some questions for my better understanding: I appreciate more and more training with resistance bands for strength, mobility, flexibility, stability and even endurance. If I want to train for strength/muscle I would imagine to go heavy and choose the resistance generally quite strong. For the other stuff I would choose much less resistance in most cases. But how can I determine the right resistance for my purpose? You said you use a light resistance band for this excercise. Why not heavy? Aren't you training muscles and then heavy is better? If I would like to buy resistance band (s), which resistance (s) would you recommend? Or to start with: what is the resistance in kg/pounds you use in this video? I am not living in the UK, though it might not be convenient for me to buy the products you recommend. Therefore I am asking you for the additional informations. Thanks in advance. And please more of this kind of videos.😀

Once again, great video! I ALWAYS make sure to warm up my shoulder before a workout, but I somehow managed to tweak my rotator cuff muscle during a lecture at uni earlier today. I was kind of stretching to relieve stiffness from sitting the whole god damn day and I heard a pop... great.

I always have shoulder pain (i think rotator cuff cause i feel its inside, not really at a muscle, but rather a joint) when doing thinks like hanging L sit hold, and hanging knee raises. At the point where I release the tention (when the exercise is done) i feel the most pain, but i perform these in good form, with active retracted shoulders. Should i do the exercises in this video? And should i work on my shoulder mobility?

@@BodyweightWarrior We all had tightness in our rotator cuff causing clicks and pops of the shoulder joint. That was my case.... But after performing these stretches, I build mobility & flexibility in my shoulders and now I am back to full strength. You can find these stretches in this article : therehabboy.blogspot.com/2021/07/best-rotator-cuff-exercises-7-easy.html

Hey Tom, I'm just starting bwf and I feel a lot of pressure on my left shoulder (the one I injured a year ago just by hanging...) when I do scapular pulls, should I do these instead? Or add these? Or just passive hang? I'm not overweight, I'm just weak and I seem to get quickly injured on everything that's on my left side. That's weird though because I can hold myself up on parallel bars with no discomfort. Thank you for everything you do, that's very helpful

I like to perform full rom wall Angels - in my opinion, done correctly, it strengthens the external rotators far better than exercises with resistance bands, as it trains your mobility and displays one's weak areas far better. I.e. It seems to me you are compensating the move in the end range with bending in your wrist? Nevertheless, awesome video and tutorial, as always Greetings!

Wall angels are another great option and +1 for posture too. In terms of form, possibly depends on how far you want to analyse :)

Tom Merrick I know! I went already but not much change! He said that I should have not squated bellow 90° when doing squats because there is too much pressure added to the knee. Anyway, thanks for your answer and you info! Greetings from Spain! Keep it up!

Why not challenging the internal rotetors? I know you will probably answer that because they are often been used, but they *never* been used as a prime movers, reducing their efficency at stabilizing the shoulder. *All 4 parts of the rotetor cuff function to stabilize the shoulder, not only 3...*
@BodyweightWarrior
@BodyweightWarrior 6 жыл бұрын
The reason is that most injuries will be to the external rotator cuffs due to the nature of bodyweight training and the fact they're usually weaker. Internal will get trained in a lot of other movements such as push ups :)
@elyasafaloni8925
@elyasafaloni8925 6 жыл бұрын
But the fact that the 3 ext.rotetors muscles are weak always correlate to tear? I thought that its because of unsafe movement stradegies which put those muscle too near to the shoulder bones...
@BodyweightWarrior
@BodyweightWarrior 6 жыл бұрын
Weakness definitely contributes to the risk of injury among many other factors. Strengthening through full ROM with these sort of movements will reduce that risk :)

I actually really don't like bands for rc work. When it gets heavy it's hard to keep good form and you can't really scale it.

Understand completely where you're coming from but you can scale and track to a certain degree. I think simply for the options/angles it provides it's a great option :)
