Fun fact; Tarbosaurus has a few allosauroid-like adaptations for hunting sauropods.
@lochness552411 ай бұрын
Like what exactly?
@bkjeong430211 ай бұрын
@@lochness5524 Relatively weaker bite forces (compared to other tyrannosaurids its size-it’s bite force was still decent, and this was also the case for allosauroids in up-to-date studies), wider gape and sharper teeth. Never managed to copy the neck adaptations allosauroids had for their sabretooth-like, largely neck-driven killing bite (which allowed allosauroids to apply as much if not even more force behind their bites as comparatively-sized tyrannosaurs in spite of their weaker jaw muscles, while being much more suited for slicing through unarmoured prey to cut it down very quickly) though.
@_nolan_nolan9 ай бұрын
Yea it was definitely trying to fill a carcharodontosaurid niche in hunting large sauropods. I guess Tarbosaurus is the closest a tyrannosaurid filling in the role of a carcharodontosaurid/allosaurid

@@bkjeong4302 Also the Head of Tarbosaurus is much Narrower

It also had a "lock" mechanism behind its bite, which ensured that few things, if anything, could escape its jaws once clamped onto. Making it perfect for tearing out chunks of flesh from the flanks and legs of sauropods.
