I am not aware of any stone circles in Canada similar to the ones in the UK, but significant stones, like glacial erratics were often painted with pictographs. I remember seeing them while growing up in south-central BC. So, giant rocks were often significant, but perhaps not in the same ways as in Europe.

Rupert not to pick a fight but all true ruminants cattle, sheep, goats, deer, and antelope, have one stomach with four compartments and they all are able to use resources from scrub land that an animal like a horse could not. Brewers grain from making alcohol is an excellent animal feed. Excellent video again.

Hi there. Yes. Spent grain aka brewers grain as animal feed. It's all part of the story of early domestication of animals and the origin of grain agriculture.

Hi Guys! You talk about sheep and cattle and grain processing. Bread and toast. Around 55 minutes in. And beer making being somehow connected. But you don't talk about the malt and malt sugars. That's what came first. That is what is important. Have a look at my latest paper on "the ancient magic of malt". It's got a great bibliography, If I may say so myself. And my blog on "first farmers first maltsters". The first sheep\goats to be domesticated were attracted to the spent grain from the mash tun. This is what we talked about in the interview on Beer! a couple of years ago. Cheers! 😉

Curiosity: we know of red ochre use as paints on skin, could copper ores have been crushed and used in a similar way? If so, in a cremation would the temperature cause a bead of copper that could have been gathered with the ashes, sparking investigations leading to smelting?

Also.... I'm having a look at Patreon membership and a wee idea popped into my head.... What about a price point between Stone and Bronze? Copper 😉 that's the same cost as the monthly subscription of most the streaming services here in the UK? 7-8...

Just at the Silbury hill part .... Took a look at Google earth myself. The field just above where you were Michael and to the right of where the survey data stops show lots and lots of circle marks.... As to what these are 🤷

I don't have much I look forward to in life. The monthly Q & A is in my top 3 Highlights of the month. I look forward to these couple of hours where I KNOW my question will be answered and I feel like I somehow matter. This month as usual I submitted my question. Two weeks later another Q & A post appears on the community page. I panic (I suffer from severe anxiety) and ask my question again. Rupert assures me it's been logged and I relax again. I get so relaxed I ask you whether a particular video is accurate or not (clearly marked "not another Q & A entry"). I know the rules. I didn't try to sneak two questions in, and then you force me yet again to explain WHY I'm not a Patreon. I have a Visa Electron debit card. Patreon DO NOT ACCEPT THEM. So I buy you a coffee when I can. I bought you a £5 coffee 2 weeks ago but didn't attach a message. That's 3 times since November. Then some guy who did try to ask two questions is told "You can hear your answers tomorrow night"??? Not cool guys. Not cool at all.

Hi Jimmy. Michael here. I am mortified that I have caused you upset in this way. It was clumsy of me and I hope you'll be able to forgive. You're right - you are one of our most loyal fans and we appreciate that you would be with us on Patreon if you could be. Honestly - I have just now looked to see if there are ways to gift a Patreon membership but sadly there is no mechanism through which to make that happen. Normally, we would have answered both your questions, but as we said at the top, we had too many questions to answer within the time so we had to ditch some completely and get strict about 'one person, one question'. I won't insult you by offering any platitudes (my son suffers similarly) but be sure that we do wish you well and we hope to see you next time. Michael.

Look tou guys .7000 yrs ago there was trees on Orkney. Just as there was on outer hebridies. Not all cultures were building with stone. I'd argue very few were. The only reason wood settlement hasn't been discovered yet is that it hasn't been looked for.

Gimbutas was roundly thumped and laughed out of court by the patriarchy in her own time. Then, little by little, as more and more evidence/better techniques began filling in, it is now grudgingly admitted that she was at least partially, if not completely, correct.
