Breathtaking! It feels necessary to recognize and honor all those who have gone before. It reminds us of our place on the time scale of history and encourages humility and wonder.

2000 UK BST is 0300 for me - so no chance I can stay awake long enough - or get up early enough - to watch live! 😮‍💨 But the BIG advantage of the recording is that I can stop and replay parts that interest (or even temporarily confuse!) me.

Hi from Plymouth Devon A Londoner living in Spain, and now visiting my son. for a couple of days.. My phone packed up, and cleared itself..now caught up again. Just drove past stone henge a couple of hours ago still a bit of a bottleneck. But i noticed about half a dozen tents pitched up.. Looked like they were doing another dig. Now to watch your show..

The fact that you two are willing to discuss and share with the general population information that we would have to take years of "schooling" or on site in person work to do and understand, yet can help us translate it to us so we can get the cole's notes on the information we want to know about but don't have the time or deep deep passion to study it in school. For that alone is why I stay and watch so many varieties of youtube channels. Its modern days encyclopedia Britannica as audio visual interactive knowledge. Telling us what helps us understand and I find so interesting but was never aware or knew I could have access to this information or that it existed at all. You are teaching the things that I wish I had access to in school as a child as it may have directed me to this profession and passion that took me over 30 years to even realize was something I could study and research. Thank you. Long Barrows, never knew, saw pictures but never understood what I was being shown or why. Now I do.

Amazing! Finnish word for Stone is Kivi. Some NW Canada Native Americans use the Exact same word for Stone. They have an Old Legend related to an elder who is turned into Stone. Legends vary. Also, Easter Island has only 7 Statues facing towards The Pacific Ocean; others face inland. The 7 Statues are named Ahu AKIVI; Kivi is an important connection from Long Ago. Other connections too. Respectful Tombs made for people who were Respectful to others. Good to live Respectfully to others. Thanks All.

Sorry I couldn’t make the party itself … I live in Perth Western Australia so it was on in the wee hours of the morning for me … But brilliant again, love you guys and one day would like to go for a beer or two with you… I am a Yorkshireman, from Otley near Leeds and have just started to study the pre history …. Have you guys written a book? 📖 Thank you Andrew ⚔️⚔️⭐️👏

Hi Andrew, glad you enjoyed it, live or not:) There was a book to accompany Standing With Stones that you might still find. There is another on the way, more related to animal husbandry, hunting and sports, but don't hold your breath, finding the time to write between all the other projects is eternally tricky. If you ever make it over we'll take you up on that beer! R

Lack of remains - I'm glad exposure/sky burials were mentioned, and there's no intrinsic need to gather the bones later. Also, I think of modern India, where cremation remains go down the Ganges, not into pots in the ground.

Considering the proclivity to use springs, bogs & pools for ritual activities, I would guess many ashes could have been lost to the water.

Do you find any possible connections with this and any stone structures found in North or South America?
@MossyMozart
@MossyMozart 6 ай бұрын
I haven't heard of these structures before. I appreciate the knowledge. (Watching from the Hudson River Valley of New York, USA.) -------------- However (isn't there always a "however"?), maybe I am too ignorant of the topic to notice it, but I would have appreciated an organized approach that I could understand. Maybe by date of supposed construction, and therefore the evolution of the forms; by location, as a travelogue with a map showing a logical route; by shape; by size; whatever you choose. As it is, it feels to me like your were unorganized tourists just darting about randomly. Please - correct me if I am too dense to have noticed the organization.

Did they have cloves?
@MossyMozart
@MossyMozart 6 ай бұрын
Maybe? They are native to the Maluku Islands, or Moluccas, in Indonesia and seem to be "first traded by the Austronesian peoples in the Austronesian maritime trade network (which began around 1500 BC, later becoming the Maritime Silk Road and part of the Spice Trade)." - source = a certain online open-source encyclopedia.

I have a very big problem being here. The video Standing With Stones is for me one of the best videos I have ever watched. I think it's 3 times now. I save it for when life gets 'poo'. The Long Barrows is not far behind. Please don't feel badly of me, but two chaps with a microphone big enough to bury King Author in does absolutely nothing for me. Not true really, but Standing With Stones is on a totally different plane. You are better than the BBC. Could you please do another video like Standing With Stones, don't hang about I'm 78?

Why would the Romans write about Stone Henge? It’s not very professional to say it was for propaganda purposes. Compared to the pyramids and countless other great works the Romans found and what they built themselves, Stone Henge can’t have been very impressive to them.

8:37 the highly important barrow's etc of which you speak are being overlooked and not given the level of interest is due to the lack of proper understanding by archaeologists and historian's! We are not giving our ancient past the proper due diligence at all, leaving us ignorant of our true history. Being too quick to claim our past is the influence of immigrant group's bringing every evolution of life with them from elsewhere? This I am sure is incorrect! We are long in existence in our island and our culture! Far longer and more ancient than most mainstream academics like to believe!! Our history is far far more ancient than is claimed! Tragic error
