Prelude Flappy Door Handle/Sun Visor Fix!

Thanks for the door handle repair trick! Quick-set epoxy worked better than the epoxy putty to set the nail in place. I made sure to use stainless. You saved me at least $120, if not double. I did this on a 2009/GE8 Honda Fit. Its been one week so far.

Thanks for the help. Next time do what I did though. Instead of heating the metal pin up. Just use a small drill bit, drill it into the handle (while its in the door no need to remove Royal Pain I Agree ) and then remove the drill bit out of your drill and you’ll have a real nice anchor and post. Just use some wire cutters to snip off the top to the desired length. I drilled mine in about 3/4 of an inch . Best anchor. I went to get emissions done today and the Tech busted my handle . Is it just normal wear and tear for this to happen ? I got the car 8 mo ago, let it sit outside. I had to clean it up and change the clutch slave cylinder & put on a new Upper Radiator Hose just to get it to the emissions place, what a day.

So you can get to this from the inside when you took off the door panel? I need to fix both of mine.

mike mileski you gotta take the door panel off and unhook the hinges and hanger(s) holding the door handle inside the cavity. You gotta pull it out just a little bit to expose the broken part. It doesn’t need to be completely removed . Just pulled out to expose the broken off plastic part and the spring. It Doesn’t take long & you don’t need to pull the entire handle out like in the video ..... just expose the plastic part that broke by pulling handle out a little to fix it where the spring once sat. Drill the bit into the plastic and put the spring over the drill bit. Cut the top of the drill bit with wire cutters to make the post a perfect fit for the spring. A little over 1/4 in. Is all you need. So far mines still good . I think the factory should’ve used a metal component like a drill bit to anchor into the base as it’s much more sturdy.
