Prelude in C Minor - Agustin Barrios Mangore played on a Brazilian river, in Bahia.
Last February, spending a week in the forest of Bahia, in Valle Do Capao, I walked to the small stream flowing below my forest lodge. Thinking what should I play to the river, trees, cicadas, and birds around me, I remembered Agustin Barrios.
When I was a teenager I read somwhere that Agustin Barrios used to go to the jungle and play for the birds and trees by the moonlight.
I began playing his prelude in C minor, accompanied by the cicadas. Listen carefuly and you will hear the cicadas getting louder together with the intensitiy of the music. Maybe they were listening.
This was my first visit to this misterious continent of Latin America. And I remembered this story by Agustin Barrios:
Tupa, the supreme spirit and protector of my race, found me one day in a flowered forest and told me: "Take this mysterious box and discover its secrets." And enclosing in it all the songbirds of the forest and the resigned soul of the vegetables, he abandoned it into my hands. Take it, obeying Tupá's command, placing it close to your heart; hugging her I spent many moons on the edge of a fountain. And one night, Jasy, portrayed in the liquid crystal, feeling the sadness of my Indian soul, gave me six silver rays so that I could discover her arcane secrets with them, and the miracle happened: from the bottom of the mysterious box, a wonderful symphony sprang forth. of all the virgin voices of nature in America. - Mangore
Enjoy :)
