There are some people that sell molds of their dice as well if making your own mold is too much. But then you would be buying direct from a crafter instead of a company.

Having all kinds of issues with tiny bubbles, and I don't want to spend an hour on each die in carefully filling, popping bubbles, re-filling voids after curing, then sanding and polishing. Have you thought about making a mini diorama inside a dice?? The big D20 might be a good choice, or a big d6 even better. In a cap mold and with something 3d printed, I imagine a few mm of blue resin, let that cure an then glue a dock with a fisherman or something like that.

Thank you for doing reviews like this, because it’s great for people to be able to see the pros and cons of different products. However, I just wanted to share that I have these moulds and only use UV resin in them with great success, though using very specific tools. Firstly, I use S&T’s UV resin for moulds. It’s much thinner than most UV resins, so it helps eliminate bubbles easier. Secondly, I use a syringe like their video suggests, and once the entire mould is filled with resin, if you squeeze the mould, most of the bubbles easily flow out of the sprues and can be popped with a lighter before the excess resin gets pulled back in to the fill the voids. I agree wholeheartedly that the flashing is still an issue, and these moulds are by no means perfect, but I still wanted to share this information for those that maybe already own these moulds, or are still interested in getting them 💚

Hey rybknator! I’m just getting started on dice making and don’t have the money to get a vacuum chamber or a pressure pot for clear casting, so I was looking up ways to cast without a pressure pot, I found that you can remove the bubbles from resin by placing the resin cup in hot water (not boiling) before and after mixing. It works perfectly for me and I’d love for you to do a “pressure potless” set in this channel with your platform. I think it makes the hobby much more accessible!

Something I've been trying, since I don't have a pressure pot, is using vibration to get the bubbles out. I've got two rumble motors that I ripped out of old controllers that I've mounted to a floating platform, that you then set your mold on let it shake for a little bit and then toss it in your uv box. It's working pretty well honestly

I found that doing a second cure of UV resin inside the mold makes them viable. I essentially clean up the sprue/flashing, put them back in and pump in more resin. Sometimes clear, sometimes a different color, and give it a second cure. The needle tip also made a huge difference for me.

I would definitely love to see you do the remolded molds and the dice box. I have both, but I'm glad now I didn't get the mini mold. My S&T dice molds have a few issues like a couple ever so slightly crooked numbers and the faces bow, but with out deep the numbers are you can sand them flat. The dice box though I love!

I adore the halflings haversack, I got it as the first installment in my dice hoard and the dice are so well made with only two dice out of the whole bag having bubbles which isnt that big of a deal since they still roll fine even with them, def reccomenf them over this mold

The only way I can see this mold working with UV resin, is if you cure each half separately, then cure them together while in the mold to keep them oriented correctly. Otherwise... I think it's a no go. Might be fun to try it though!

For AB resin it might be handy to cut 2 pieces of wood to the size of the mold and put the mold between those with elastic to hold the pressure, and using a needle so you don't push anything open, thus making almost no flashing. I don't own the molds, but it may be worth a shot.

One fix is to use pressure prior to curing with UV light, but I think if you are going to go through that trouble, you might as well use a 2 part resin. That said, I do believe using a syringe with a needle applicator could help reduce some bubbles with UV resins. I would probably also use the Resin that I use in my 3D resin printers as the resins I use have a fairly low viscosity and I can syringe from a pot of resin that is virtually bubble free and if done properly, there should be no bubbles introduce when filling the syringe(or very few that should be easy to work around). But I don't think I am a fan of dice that small. I have a few sets of small dice, but those S&T ones just seem too small and I happen to be rather fond of small things.

The dark grey ink muddied the orange semitransparent color and made the finished die look dirty. A lighter color might have worked better, but because they’re so small I think any color you ink with will have the same bleed over effect on non-opaque dice, not only affecting the color but also making them harder to read. They’d probably be fine if you only used them to make opaque dice, but it’s another thing to consider if you’re thinking of buying these molds.
