Dhanu Vershan they are used to calculate long term distances, and to get precise angles in architecture of a building, find the distance between sun and earth,etc., There are many more uses of these which makes calculation and theory way easier than normal operators but are actually very less used compared to other chapters in mathematics in majority of the fields

Very simple. See 10th std maths book trigonometry chapter. Just look at the word problems. They use trigonometric identities such as sin , cos, tan to find the height of a tower, breadth of a river etc., If u know the angle of inclination , u can easily find its trigonometric identity. Using those identities u can find the height, length etc., U may wonder the height of the pyramid are measured using trigonometry. No one went to the top and use a tape to measure it.

One more technique is move your hand towards the center of the stick to reduce the speed so the momentum decrease a bit than hit by the edge of the stick
