I remember working at a college radio station and these guys were in the list with YES, GENESIS, GENTLE GIANT, ELP, and lots of other Prog bands back in the day.

PFM ( and few other bands like ORME ) has been the italian replay at the english progressive rock. They are very good musicians.

I loved the 70s, best time of my life. All those incredible bands around then and you could see them relatively easily. I would go back now.

Back in high school in 74, a friend bought the PFM album, Cook, he recorded it on cassette and We’d crank up the car stereo to this while aimlessly driving around. I was hooked on the band and still love them today!

Their best album was Chocolate Kings, with the incredible singer Bernardo Lanzetti. (A unique voice that *everybody* has a strong opinion on!)

PFM was the first band I ever saw in concert, which I believe was in 1975 in Miami at the Marine Stadium. They opened for Dave Mason. Fantastic show on a floating stage. Dave Mason entered on a large yacht docked behind the stage, but I don't think PFM entered the stage that way.

Premoli astounds to this day. Some of the greatest prog rock keyboard riffs ever. The one time I saw these guys live is still among the top five live shows I ever witnessed - out of maybe 85 or 90 concerts.

Did they ever tour in the United States? I've loved their music from the first time I heard it back in the 1970's. I owned several of their albums, I even had both the American and Italian versions of Photos of Ghosts and The World Became the World.

@@gusmore26 Yes, though I am not sure how extensive the "tour" actually was. I saw them in a small club called The Boarding House in 1977, in San Francisco, and of course they also had their live "Cook" album from three years earlier. That was from shows in New York and Toronto. I am not sure if those were the only two North American tours, but I don't know of any others.

I just read the liner notes on the Roxy video and it says "LA August 11, 1977" - dang it, I moved to L.A. about that time, I had probably gotten there by then. I would have loved to add PFM to my concerts seen list along with Genesis' first tour, Gentle Giant twice, Pink Floyd Dark Side original tour, Yes, and UK, et al. I'm glad they made it. I could see them here in Buenos Aires back in 2017, Mussida has been left the group, but Patrick Djivas and Frank Di Ciocco came with and the guitar player was another great italian musician, Marco Sfogli, great performance, unforgettable night.

One of my favorite prog bands, which I discovered through like-minded friends in our small town in southern Indiana in the US. These guys just got better and more interesting with each album. Photos of Ghosts, which these songs are from, was a good start.

I still have this album on vinyl. My dad picked it up maybe like 1977-78. Great musicianship and faces to go with it.

Which album ? As I understood it this performance were for a UK TV show, nothing more... it was recorded neither an album nor a videotape... at least officially.

Same with me! Been listening to prog for decades and just discovered them about 6 months ago. No idea how they slipped through the cracks. When I first listened to Per un amico (with headphones), my first thought was "this is now in my top 5 albums."

I remember this band very well..i had heard of them but knew vaguely of their music..i knew of the genre..70's progressive rock.I missed them playing in my home town in Northern California on campus in a gymnasium. I had heard they went over big time. Sorry i missed the show.Thank you for this post greatly appreciated.

I saw them open for Bad Company's first tour in a small theater, the Columbus Agora. They quickly won over the crowd, great energy.

I had the album with this on it when it first came out. Stunning album and this track is outstanding. Always been a favourite. Italy not known for its rock but this is up there with the best of them of the time and still good to hear. Thanks for ;osting and hope others enjoy...

One of my top concerts ever. PFM opened for Nektar, opened for Dave Mason. 1975 or ‘76. Saw Uriah Heep the year before. Some of the most revered concerts ever.

I believe that's a Barcus Berry pickup on the violin. They provided the custom pickups for the 1977 Works Orchestra. Of course you notice the bassist's black Ripper (needs that custom JBL PA rig of Dottore Greg Lake to bring it out more)

Never heard of this band….and I am a Prog Rock Fan who was born in the late 60s and listen to obscurer bands like GONG, The Flock,Gentle Giant as well as the legends King Crimson,Yes,Genesis,UK,Etc…my Band Sheer Cerebral Power plays today in that tradition. This Band is pretty awesome….

Having LPs and concerts does not remove a band from obscurity. While I wouldn't go so far as to call GG obscure, they are very far from mainstream and tend to only be known by prog fanatics.

Been a PFM fan since the Manticore label days (Photo of Ghosts, World Became World, Chocolate Kings and Jet Lag). Great Ptog Rock band. I first heard of PFM reading about ELP, who owned Manticore.

There was a place in Rockford Ill called Straight Johnson's ( no Drug paraphernalia allowed). They had an extensive album catalog and knowledgeable staff who turned me onto this (amongst others) that weren't main stream. So glad they did.

Rock progressivo de primeira. Eu já conhecia a música celebretion e pensava que era de Rick Wakeman, não conhecia esse grupo. Interessante que o nome é o mesmo de uma banda que ficou bem conhecida que é a Kool and Gang. Diferenças a parte, essa me fez voltar no tempo. Obrigado👍

O titulo dela na verdade é E’ Festa. Quando assinaram com o selo Manticore do ELP e tentaram entrar no mercado inglês e norte americano, fizeram algumas releituras de suas originais colocando nomes e letras em inglês mas de forma geral, o disco em italiano é mais conhecido (e bem melhor tambem, soa mais natural).
