I would like to remind that Wright was last in the Premier League table for the last two years in a row (this year he won only 2 out of 18 matches). This should be a huge negative for his candidacy. Imo he needs at least SF to deserve a spot in the Premier League.

You have to remember that the PL is a glorified exhibition and that the real criteria for PL selection is Top 4 PDC ranked and 4 more of whoever they want to help fill seats and/or get the crowds excited to see. Historically some merit has come into play with the outer 4 selections, but doesnt have to. I wouldnt be surprised either way concerning Snakebite, although he is my favorite player.

I think De Decker has already blown it, and for me Wright still needs to go still further in this comp. I still think they'll give Michael Smith a sympathy pick but we'll see. If Dobey beats Price, I think that might get him in too. Agree on the relegation idea, although I think there should be one chance for a player to rescue himself by winning the worlds.

For me now Littler, Humphries, MvG, Price and Bunting are all definitely in. After last night I think Peter Wright comes right back into contention, but he might have to replicate it again in the Quarters just to make sure. If he does that, and Rob Cross holds onto his world no.4 spot, that leaves only 1 place left for Smith, Dobey, De Decker, Anderson and maybe even Rydz if he gets to the Final. Atm I think they’ll go with Michael Smith on name value, but I think Dobey might force his way in and go all the way to the Final.

Peter has been nothing but an anchor on the prem the past 2 years. IMO, he needs to win at least 1 more game here to merit consideration. If he's gonna play like he did vs Humphries and Wattimena throughout most of the PL season I'd love to see him in, but watching him play so poorly almost every week, it removes from the quality of the product and is hard to watch. In 2023 he was very bad but this year it was genuinely sad to see a legend of the game get run over time and again.

I just think that Peter needs a break from the premier league. He’s had a horrible last 2 campaigns and a 3rd one might break him for good. Hopefully this wc isn’t just a purple patch (like the European championship) but I don’t want to run the risk that it is. Are we sure Rob Cross is out of the top 4 for definite? Unless the live order of merit thing that pops up towards the top of a Google search isnt correct then he'd stay 4th if the final is Littler v MVG for example.

If peter wright is in it, it will waste it. Was abysmal all year in it last . Averaging 70 odds sometimes. Will stink of repetitiveness and will be bad for the competition. My personal 8 would be. Humphries, Littler. Mvg, Cross, price, Bunting. A think those 6 are nailed on. And my other 2 would be Dobey and De Decker. Why not have a 12 man league , where 8 play each week, and the 4 losers in the quarter finals are replaced the next week by the other 4. This happens each week so its always an 8 man tourney with 4 1st round losers dropping out the following week. It would refresh the tournament each week. But give 12 players a chance to be in it

I like this idea, my only hesitation is I’m not sure if they already confirmed format to remain as 8 man knockout each night. I don’t know if they arrange the 1st round of each league night in a way that each player fairly rotates in different sections of the draw and play every other player twice. It always feels like the same players playing each other. The format could be changed to have some flexibility if a player is ill to not lose a game each night and have byes. Maybe have one player reserve named who comes in and can earn points to the table. Highly unlikely they’d be called on more than twice over the season. I liked the idea that first round losers get replaced each week by a new four players. Don’t know how that works in practicality with the draw of games, maybe a random draw or some kind of structure.

(If any of the four in 5-8 take the 4th AQ spot) Aspinall No Wright, outside of him making the World finals for the AQ spot, because he's been the bottom of the table two years running (last year was also really bad), and I would be *extremely* hesitant to even give him the chance a third year running.

The main thing is not the Premier League. That's just an exhibition tour, nothing more and nothing less. The main thing is who wins the Worldchampionship, who ends up in the Top 16 and the Top 32. And for some the main thing is if they end up in the Top 64 and keep their tourcard or if the loose it and are doomed to the dreaded Q-school.

I'm a fan of Peter but seriously even as number 17 of the world, you should expect him to beat the likes of Plaisier (no offense). Two big wins against Wattimena & Humphries does not qualify you for the PL. He was horrible in the last two PL-seasons and throughout this year. Especially in the PL he seemed tired and overplayed and took a spot he didn't deserve last year. I can see, that the PDC likes to bring in the popular faces but let's be honest, he won't play forever and there are many exciting new player who deserves the spotlight as much as he does at the moment. If it's about popularity, bring in Ando, Peter, Barney and Nathan. Otherwise Bunting, Gerwyn, De Decker and Dobey as he was robbed last year.

Me personally find it to little for Wright. Yeah, he finally did put off 2 great matches at the Worlds. But his display in most of the year was awful. His last 2 Premier League runs were appalling. If you pick him for the Premier League, you need to be sure he can maintain a higher standard over the weeks then the past. In my opinion the Premier League is getting less interesting and more boring by the year, so i don't even care that much if you pick Wright, De Decker, Heta or Aspinall. I am not gonna watch anyways.
