Jose corrected a journalist that asked him why he chose to call himself the special one many years ago "That was a lie made by the British press. I never said I was THE special one. I said I was A special one. Which is completely different. And the context was that 3 days before I won the CL with a club who never wins CL. And today to coach in the PL you need nothing. Just an agent. Back in my days when I came to chelsea only 2 foreign managers arrived in the PL that year. Bénitez who had to win la Liga and the Europa league with Valencia to coach in the PL and myself who had to win 2 leagues titles the Europa league and the CL with Porto to coach in the PL And the first question was "Are you good enough to even challenge for the title given that you never coached here before?". And I was like What? I'm a European champion and you're not treating me like I'm nobody? So I had a direct answer by saying I'm not one of the bottom. I'm not just a nobody. I just won the F letter CL. That's what I was thinking. I just won the F letter CL So I am a special one. A manager with other special managers at the time like Sir alex ect and then people said I called myself The special one and it stayed that way "
