Why all the griping? These drums sound like the classic Premiers that Moon played. The toms have that tympanic quality without the dissonance associated with high tuning. Beautiful and melodic.

Using mt APK's over the years in live shows, I've had so many complements on there sound. Especially the toms. When miked up right, "Kaddie Bar The Door" they are THUDURUS!......and yes Gretchluver wirh Ambassadors, only I use the coated to ease the sustain a little.

I'm sure if the tuning was dropped a bit and replaced those resonant heads with normal clear ambassadors rather than cs heads, the toms would sound nicer.

Nice snare...is that a Gretsch COB. Vintage Premier have a warmer sound...maybe different wood.

I think that most of those vintage Premier kits were mahogany, this is birch

Marko Marković I have 70s mahogany English Premier kit, but tune it lower. Has a much warmer sound that way.

That 10" tom sounds weird. Is this in the same range as Olympic or its successor? I remember Premier made some amazing XPK and APK kits back in the day, great value for the money.

Back in 95 I had an XPK fusion kit and it was 10x10 12x12 14x14 20x16 with a 14x5 matching snare. Turquoise/black marble finish. Was $699. Went amazing till I played a Genista kit a couple months later. But for $699. It recorded great as well as miked up live.

Amazing how many of these toms sound the same on most videos. The Gretsch snare here sounds better than the toms. Strange, as vintage Premier toms sound very good usually and very warm..

@@ivanbajovic3476 Check out Keith Moon's tunings. Live At Leed's, Who's Next, and other recordings. Very high and similar to this demo. ANother drummer that tuned his kit in the high range was John Bonham, with very large shells. As good as he was, I always heard dissonance in the tuning when listened to off a high quality system. Not Moon.

Premier don't make drum kits anymore Terry they shut down... and projectors are a higher line than APK/XPK... brilliant kits...if you are still looking for one there's a guy selling a Beautiful 6 piece projector kit on Facebook marketplace... very rare now 🥁

I had a APK series drum kit some years ago...had it for 14 years awesome kit! These newer kits they have sound terrible!!!! I bought a new 1 a few months ago...and sold it...got a PDP custom maple kit now!!! 10 times better sounds great!
