When Morrell shells up & moves forward in a straight line he gets hit. But when he jabs, feints, leans to the side & attacks from an angle, he makes it look easy.

I think it shows that he can fight both ways. He either trys to walk you down and eat the punches or he can show off his amazing defense and footwork. But guys with a lot of power seem to love to walk down opponents.

How did announcers misread that first round? If he wanted to get off the ropes he could have. The game plan looked obvious, at least to me, as he took some shots from morel and you could almost see in Henderson’s body language like “that’s all you got?!” Because after that he sat on the ropes and made no attempt to evade he let Morrell tee off on him and started to look for counters. Heavy hitter knockout artists are difficult for counter punchers because all it takes is a good placed shot from them to put you out so a counter puncher has to be a lot more careful about purposely taking a punch in order to hit with a counter. You might end up waking up staring at the ceiling before your counter even lands 😂

I get what you're saying but why be a defensive counter striker when you can be an offensive one ,like Mike Tyson or Loma ,because the opponent is a power puncher instead of you slipping on the back foot to counter slip on the front foot that way even if you do get caught the timing of the punche will be off and he didn't get the chance to fully extend his punches because you're moving in with you're hands up ,on the back foot of you get caught you get caught at the nd of the punches which means more damage and you fingting on the front foot you dictate when your opponent throws because you're controlling the distance ,it becomes easier to time and slip punches like that .

Morrel speed is not impressive against Benavidez, he didn't fight a caliber opponent..its too early to exit his boxing career against benavidez, thats why they're so careful in picking less competitive opponents.

After David Benavidez's win over Boo Boo, a lot of comments were mentioning this Morrell guy. I'll be the first to say I haven't been following boxing like I did before, but I know a hype job when I see one - and I am sorry to say, Morell is a hype job. There is nothing special about him except his padded record. You all saying he's the next great star but all of his opponents have been C class fighters at best. This dude won't get past Plant, Benavidez, Charlo, and not a snowballs chance in hell against Canelo. Heck, I bet Boo Boo beats him. Let's see him fight someone decent before we start giving him the boogie-man title

Tell that to Aidos Yerbossunly. They didn't even post the fight after what happened to him. Aidos was rated #1 in the WBA and knocked out the only guy to ever to go the distance with Morrell. Aidos was in a medically induced coma for 2 weeks after facing Morrell.

Aidos just had too much heart for a guy that is supremely skilled in the ring. It's because Aidos is that good that the fight was allowes to continue. Benavidez has faster hands and a more effective jab. DB fast hands will be a factor when counter punching. Another major factor will be DB body attack. Morrell's chin hasn't been tested by the likes of a Benavidez. DB is going to take him to school. DB by knockout in the second half of the fight.

Not sure how Benavidez fans are so sure it's gonna be a walk in the park. Both of them looked pretty unimpressive in their respective light heavy debuts. Neither are especially difficult to land on. Both of them have decent but not spectacular power at 175. Benavidez has more pro experience while Morrell has an extensive amateur pedigree. It's a solid matchup. A lot of it is going to come down to who can get the other guy on his heels

I don't see a man who will beat benevidez here. That defense and his dropping guard to throw wild punches could get him hurt, badly and often from David Benevidez. It would be fun to see how it shakes out though

@rebellion7463 As normal when Benavidez gets his butt kicked then want. And with all due respect, stop bring up steroids when Benavidez tested positive for cocaine. My point is, there's been no evidence of steroid usage outside of the guys who he kicked their butts trying to find an excuse as to why they lost against Morrell. If Benavidez hits the jackpot and wins, are we going to say he did so b/c he used cocaine? The point is, regardless of what people might say, we have no facts about steroids use and the fact is, Benavidez paid for his "sin" when he got busted twice. I just wish Benavidez would have left that mess out of it b/c it opened the door for Morrell, which shows the class act he is, to talk about Benavidez drug history. the point is, unless there was proven facts of steroid use, just like them fight. And lastly, someone needs to tell Benavidez to keep his mouth shut saying the fight will end in 5 rounds. fi that is the case, why would fan want to buy it? and sorry one last point, if i recall didin't trarver call our roy jones like morrell has for benavidez for years and we see what happened to roy he was never the same again

David Morrell is no where near far enough along the journey to fight guys like Benevidez. It was a good stop. But there are a few things he needs to work on. His feet for one thing and side to side for two. Watch Ben Crawford.

I think the Benavidez fight is too early for Morrell. He hasn’t faced anyone remotely closed to as relentless as The Mexican monster. He won’t bully Benavidez and he won’t be able to keep him on the ropes like he did this dude
