Sean is rough, and precise in his odd striking and Philly ninja shell. He also easily got up after Mago tried to take his back. He manages movement and his cardio well. Doesn’t take much damage either, he lessens and absorbs strikes with his foot/ hand work. He’s really evolved as a human and a fighter. Still more work to do. I’m proud of him.

While I do agree the call was a few seconds late, you're always going to piss someone off. I couldnt even tell you the amount of times I've seen the losing fighter freak out at the ref for stopping it too early, and when you give them another few seconds to regain a chance to defend themselves then you're called malicious. It looked bad from the angle they showed but when Magomedov was on the ground at the end he was still intelligently defending his face with his arms and hands, he just couldn't get out of the position. I think most fighters would prefer that to the ref who makes early calls, better to take a few extra punches than to have their career potentially permanently altered and their earning potential dimished by a loss from an early call

Reminds me of something Chael Sonnen said once. He said one of the biggest fears of a fighter is running out of gas. This is the perfect example of why that would be. Some fighters get into such phenominal shape that they out last their opponents. I think Sean is in plenty good shape, but the big trick is he gets in your face, then gets you to expend too much effort getting him away, and then he gets you. Now if you can put his lights out before that, which is clearly possible, then you are good, but it ain't easy.

@@ThePhilosophicalOne I laughed at the sight of a man's spirit being broke. Mog lost that fight early in round 2. Strickland really didn't offer much in round 1. Mog tired himself out and Strickland landed a few decent shots. (mog was done) I believe that he continued fighting as long as he did because he's a fighter, it's what he knows and what he does. But mentally, he cashed out early in the second. He just didn't know it yet. I've seen this change in men before. Good times

Sean's probably a full 5 feet away nose to nose and still lands that jab with a finger going into his eye. He doesn't have crazy reach or speed but he can place a fist on your face like a magician...and Abus is a freak athlete with speed and reach who should be able to evade it. Just imagine trying to land on Abus. It ain't easy. Abus vs Costa would be awesome.

@@drealboy_ of the top 15 middleweights, 8 have 75" or less reach, sean has 76", so yeah he's slightly above average, so sean has the 7th best (or tied) reach of the top 15 avg height 6'1" 73.23 avg reach 6'2 3/4" 75.35 6 are taller, some are tied, so he's in the middle there as well, all but 1 are 6' or taller, so he's just slightly above average in reach and height Anyway, I did the math.. avg height 6'1" or 73.23", Sean's 73.0" avg reach 6'2 3/4" or 75.35", Sean's 76.0" He's pretty average. 1/4" shorter in height, 3/4" longer in reach

Folks complain that Strickland only throws straight shots, this is what makes him so hard to hit. There’s no way to beat him to a strike. It’s just adds to his defense. Adesanya relies on wearing people out and countering their round strikes. Strickland doesn’t tire and doesn’t throw shots you can easily counter. It’s not flashy like dans likes but it lets him walk people down like a terminator while they can’t touch him.
