Gary Rossington is so typical Southern Boy. The slow drawl. Man has been through some shit and back. Best Rig Rundown ever. When I was a 16 year old high school squirt, I heard my 1st Skynyrd songs on a buddys cassette deck at lunch time. It was an epiphany moment in my life. From that day on, all I wanted to do was play electric guitar. 2-3 years later, I had the band name tattooed on my arm. Still do. ..and I live in Cali. That's not a common thing out here. That music meant so much to me over the years, and literally steered me right when I couldve gone wrong very easily. Be a man. Honor your Mom and Dad. Dont use needles. Dont mess with the cops. Dont shoot people. Be who you are. Follow your heart. Respect our planet. Dont trust politicians. Have a good time. I could go on, but the messages in those songs saved my ass many times and I literally owe them a debt of gratitude for keeping me out of jail and the grave yard...and for the great music that those messages were delivered in. There will always be a place in my life for Skynyrd. Thanks

Cause I ain't! Lol Like many others, I picked up a guitar because of this band. I still remember rthe exact moment I first heard Free Bird ( That 70s show). I remember very well the weekend it took me to all of Sweet Home. My first tab book ever was almost $75 but it had all their songs. They also perfected my musical pallet and made me such a critique lol as we all should be. I think Gary is the only living original guitar player now. If he is still going....RIP Ed King! They jammed a lil' bit in their earlier years. Met Allen, Lacey, Billy, Artimus, and kinfolk in Fulton County Stadium in 86ish doin stage hand work. Down to earth, polite, kind, unselfish, hospitable, the whole shooting match even after all the tragedies. I grew up in and around Atlanta and in the swamps of Valdosta...from Chastain park to Piedmont park to SE fairgrounds to Byron pop festival, the Agora, the Fox, Fulton co stadium, Alex Cooley's clubs, Macon ga, Playground South in Jax. etc.,etc., etc., The Allman Brothers and Lynard Skynyrd and many others but the 70's in the South it was those two all the time. From the hell house to the river and from the graveyard to the the Coliseums and sadly back to the graveyard. They Will always be the two greatest Southern Rock and Roll bands of all time to me. If I could own one piece of Rock and guitar history. I think it would be one of these gentleman’s no.1 guitar. I know I couldn’t afford something like that, but I would also feel bad that others couldn’t learn about it or enjoy those magical tones. I think a Gibson ES-339 in a blonde color with a dark rosewood neck and before it gets coated I would hope to get the whole band to autograph it. Just because their music always seemed to be in my life. I’ve never really been good at remembering individual names in a band. I just loved closing my eyes and just meditating. Thank you gentlemen for what you’ve given the world for all these years.
